UK - Yamaha Commercial Audio enjoyed a highly successful PLASA 2010, with the company's new StageMix iPad app enjoying an enthusiastic response from audio professionals. Coupled with the debut for Macintosh editor software for the M7CLV3 and LS9, the company's stand was busy throughout the exhibition's duration.

With all three software products confirmed as being made available at no cost, interest levels were high.

"Our philosophy is to introduce products that users want and have asked for," says Karl Christmas, deputy general manager of Yamaha Commercial Audio (UK). "There are thousands of Yamaha digital mixing consoles out there and the highest priorities on user 'wants lists' were facilities to make use of them more efficiently."

Featuring a straightforward, intuitive graphic interface and the iPad's multi-touch and gesture control, StageMix uses the

UK - At PLASA 2010 the Coemar LED Reflection projector won the coveted prize for innovation, presenting a line of projectors which exploit, for the first time with a LED, the physical properties of reflection of the light.

In the Reflection projectors, the LEDs project the light onto a mirror surface which reflects it to the outside guaranteeing perfect colours and extreme purity throughout the white light range, says the company. It was this concept and the lighting that generated it that impressed the PLASA judges.

Reflection, which will be commercially available from the beginning of November of this year, will therefore represent a new turning point in the event lighting world, yet another of the technological and commercial developments contributing to the success story of Coemar, says the company.

UK - LumenRadio was awarded its second consecutive PLASA Innovation Award, this time for CRMX Nova Flex.

The PLASA jury gave high praise for LumenRadio's latest innovation: "CRMX Nova Flex impressed the judges for its ability to act as a complete cross-protocol wireless lighting control system. It was also noted for its recent use of RDM in an architectural application, giving feedback from external sensors - thereby providing an energy efficient outdoor lighting solution."

For the first time on market, CRMX Nova Flex offers complete compatibility between all supported protocols. The user can input any protocol into the transmitter and receive any protocol from the receiver. CRMX Nova Flex can also be configured by the user to function as either a transmitter or receiver.

UK - GLP and G-LEC used their imposing stand, located right inside the main entrance at London's Earls Court, to whet the appetite of visitors to PLASA 2010. The two companies revealed a new benchmark in LED lighting - both in video pixel walls and the developed optical paths of high-output production spots and washes.

Pride of place went to the new member of the Phantom range. The Phantom 15 (15mm pixel pitch) is 100% integratable with the Phantom 30 large format, high brightness LED display (with 30mm pixel pitch) and the Phantom 60, as all share the same software platform. Billed as the most transparent LED video systems available, the frames can be easily connected together regardless of resolution using the famous patented quick lock system.

Also sharing the same operating platform (to ensure total integration), was the Solaris+. This is a hanging LED video curtain - comp

Denmark - The roster of Supernova front-projection displays from Danish optical screen pioneers, dnp denmark, is about to undergo a further paradigm shift by embracing 3D technology.

This follows the successful trial at this summer's InfoComm expo in Las Vegas, where visitors donned active stereo shutter glasses to experience one of the unforgettable moments of the show. They were able to view specially-created 3D content on a huge Supernova Infinity screen, equipped with a 0.8 low gain material to provide unique contrast and horizontal half gain viewing angles.

Fed from a Mechdyne Dimensions Media and 3D Server, projected from a Digital Projection TITAN Reference 1080p 3D projector, dnp met their combined goals of providing a high-contrast image with super wide viewing angles in a harsh overhead lighting setting.

As dnp Product Manager Johnny Jensen explains, "Watching

UK - At the 2010 PLASA Show in London, Coemar announced the launch of Reflection FullSpectrum, a new concept in LED lighting fixtures.

Reflection brings a familiar part of traditional Par lighting fixtures - the interchangeable light source - to the new world of LED lighting fixtures. The lightsource directs light from a combination of LEDs onto a parabolic reflector, giving an output which is bright, but which also eliminates the RGB dots and multi-coloured shadows which have plagued many other LED fixtures. Reflection gives a pure, uniformly coloured beam that can also be zoomed smoothly from 18 to 37 degrees.

Two version of the Reflection lightsource are available. The RGB version offers full spectrum colour mixing and also a dramatic, boosted strobe/blinder effect that can be used in any colour. The VariWhite version offers colour temperature selection across the white ran

Australia - After more than two years in development, ENTTEC has innovated its signature DMX networking tool, the Datagate, by adding a Web-based, user-friendly graphical interface, Gigabit-speed Jumbo Frames, Remote Device Management (RDM) on-demand, and more.

A key upgrade to the original Datagate is that the configuration is all performed via Web browser. A utility no longer needs to be downloaded to a computer. Instead, users set their browsers to the Datagate Mk2's Web address, and there they will find a unique graphical interface that's as easy to use as dragging and dropping, says the company. The simplified display screen allows users to create a flow chart easily and then the Datagate Mk2 will perform what is drawn. This enhancement not only eliminates steps, but makes the whole process easier to understand and manage.

UK - Following a highly successful PLASA show where SES Entertainment Services received orders and enquiries for its range of 19" rack distribution, the company will now include a USB charging socket if required on its extensive range.

Several customers that placed orders at the show, insisted that we fitted USB sockets in order to charge the crews' mobile phones, as during longer shows they often run out of power and it is often difficult to find a suitable and secure place to charge them.

"This has been very well received by several crew members who need to keep in touch when away from home on tour, and does away with the need to carry different adapters for different countries, as all phones now come with a USB charger," says Gordon R Cooper. "The USB socket is available on all new racks as of 1 October, and can be retro fitted to older racks if required
