The Martin Sutherland designed set made the most of the event venues vast interior, with a performance area extending 75m away from the guests. Stage One were asked to provide the 45m x 13m seating block, a 50m x 10m stage, a mother grid and truss; tracking dollies, four performer flying points complete with Qmotion control, several large-scale props, and the interface with a temporary De Boers structure (used as an exhibition and dining area).
The props included a trucking 11m high Dutch-style windmill, a huge canvas sail and a 21m x 8m pool which provided a water ballet display. The provision of the four performer points with associated truss, track and motion control afforded the opportunity for performers to interact with both the windmill and the sail.
Tim Eilliott, general manager, WRG Qatar, comments, "It has been an absolute pleasure working with Stage One. It was their dedication and skills which took WRG's concepts and visions and turned them into a reality, making the event such an achievement and success for WRG Qatar."
Stage One were working with WRG Qatar on both this project and another large-scale event - 77MTA - simultaneously. Steve Dolan, account director for Stage One comments, "The successful delivery of both of these projects was down to the fact that we have a large number of in-house resources to draw on, we have a lot of experience of working in the region and most importantly, we have a fantastic working relationship with WRG, both in Qatar and the UK."
