During InfoComm's Rental & Staging Forum and Reception, Lighting&Sound America (L&SA) presented the Staged Events Awards.

Freeman Audio Visual Solutions received the award for Best Overall Staging for a Corporate or Association Event for their staging of the Miller Brewing Annual Distributors Conference. Norway - Rental company, Sceneservice AS, has purchased a second Allen & Heath iLive digital mixing system to add to its hire stock inventory.

Based in central Norway, the company originally invested in an iLive system, comprising an iDR10 MixRack and iLive-144 Control Surface, in 2008, employing it for various tours, events and festivals on its roster. In autumn it managed FOH duties on the main stage at the Blues in Hell Festival in Stjørdal, which included headline performances from Walter Trout and Marcia Ball. More recently, it managed FOH at the Nidaros Blues Festival in Trondheim, which featured headline act, Little Feat.

UK - Christie announced the launch of the Christie Mirage WU Series at Japan's Industry Virtual Reality Expo (IVR). The series is an expansion to Christie's Mirage Series of 3-Chip DLP, 3-D Active Stereo projectors. The four new projectors, the Mirage WU3, Mirage WU7, Mirage WU12 and Mirage WU18 offer more pixels, with WUXGA 1920 x 1200 native resolution and brightness options of 3,000, 6,600, 12,000 and 18,000 ANSI lumens.

The projectors feature built-in edge-blending and Christie Light Output Control (LITELOC) for constant brightness tracking and monitoring of lamp output. They also feature Comprehensive Colour Adjustment (CCA), allowing the adjustment of actual RGB channels in individual projectors for even colour matching across multi-screen applications. The men's tournament format consisted of 12 teams, played across three venues - Lord's, Trent Bridge and The Oval. The women's tournament consisting of eight teams was hosted at Taunton.

UK - Rycote has announced the immediate availability of a redesigned version of its Softie windshield and microphone mount incorporating the company's Lyre suspension technology. As a result of the improvements, the new Softie system is lighter overall (145 grammes), and offers better isolation from handling noise, says the company.

The Softie is Rycote's robust, push-on microphone windshield and mounting system for shotgun mics, and is widely used by documentary makers and in news-gathering applications.

Denmark - Martin Professional has strengthened its customer care department with three new hires: Adela Güven, Marianne Kirk and Pernille Rosenkilde.

Located at Martin's headquarter office in Aarhus, Denmark, the new customer care coordinators' primary responsibility will be all manner of customer service, as well as to implement Martin's new e-commerce platform, Martin E-Shop.

USA - Energy-efficient T8/bi-pin LED lighting tubes are the latest fluorescent-replacement LED lighting products in LEDtronics' green-technology lineup. The series LED48T8-288-001W bi-pin LED fits into standard G13 bases and is designed to directly replace conventional T8 fluorescent tubes that provide general lighting for commercial, residential and architectural lighting applications. The 48" long white tubes provide the equivalent light output of 24W to 32W fluorescent lamps while consuming less than a maximum of 19W. UK - The launch of Automation in the Entertainment Industry - A User's Guide, the newest title from ET Press, which took place after the ABTT Theatre Show awards on 10th June, was a casual gathering in a private room of a pub near the Apollo theatre, and around 60 industry personalities made an extra effort to attend even though the tube strikes were affecting transport in central London.

At the launch, Mark Ager said a few words to thank all the contributors and those who had helped to make the book a reality: "This book has been part of a focus to help educate the market about automation and its uses and possibilities. Argentina - Earlier this year, as part of the Rocket Man tour which began in 2007 Elton John returned to Argentina for a concert at the Boca Juniors Club Stadium, 16 years after his last show in the country. The show also featured James Blunt.

The sound reinforcement for the show was provided by Buenos Aires Live Show (BALS), who chose to use the Proel EDGE system, for the stage monitors.

The two artists - backed by a group of international musicians - performed various styles from pop, to folk, to acoustic rock to a crowd of over 25,000 spectators.

In total, the stage monitor system used by BALS for the event featured 16 x Proel EDGE15CXPB bi-amplifiable coaxial floor monitors powered by six Powersoft Q4002 amplifiers.

Sweden - Oslo's new wedge-shaped Opera House - built specifically to house the city's Den Norske Opera an Ballett company - has completed commissioning of two TiMax delay-matrix systems with full programming of multiple on-stage and 3D surround effects audio images.

Alf Berntson of Swedish consultants Artifon AB created the advanced source-oriented reinforcement (SOR) specification for the venue's impressive main classical opera auditorium, 'Stage One', which is partnered with an adjacent contemporary drama and music black-box theatre space known as 'Stage Two'.

UK - The Rigging Partnership has introduced the Rig Beam system, designed to dramatically improve the flexibility and rig point safety of any venue. "The system has already proven that after its quick and easy installation the rig beam system will save on design and production costs and allow the venue to facilitate larger productions," the company says.

The suspension beam system, which can travel along the inside flanges of two I-beams, or mounted to bespoke brackets which interface with an existing house system, allows two or more adjacent systems to pass by each other without obstruction. Denmark - DNP Denmark reports an overwhelming reaction to the worldwide launch of its new Supernova Panorama at InfoComm 2009 in Orlando. The new Panorama offers a seamless display measuring 10m (33ft) wide by 1.5m (5ft) tall.

Said DNP Denmark's global sales manager, Søren Kræmmergaard, "We couldn't have asked for better, and judging from the interest there seemed little sign of any global financial crisis at our booth.
