Visitors to the Messe were hit with promotional banners from the moment they arrived, announcing a competition to win prizes based around five little humanoid robots, which had earlier performed on CCTV's Lunar New Year Gala 2016, celebrating the Chinese New Year. In Frankfurt they were performing to I'm Sexy And I Know It, which was synced to the spectacular lightshow. The stand concept was completely different to past years, as there was no actual show on display at the booth but a huge bar, surrounding a tall tree in the middle of the stand.

Several lasers of the new tarm Series and others created ambient laser effects and a multitude of laser of the Garden Series illuminated the tree and the bar with hundreds of tiny light dots. The array of RJ Zep LED profile and Fresnel fixtures drew much attention from theatre, event and display technicians, as did the Merlin 2500W HMI touring spot and the 300W LED Roxie followspot, which both continue to lead the way in followspot innovation.

At PLASA Focus Leeds, the organisation will be holding a seminar Theatres Trust 40 on 11 May at 2.15pm, where show visitors are invited to join discuss "what we need to be doing today to protect theatres for live theatre tomorrow". On display May 10-11 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds will be Elation's new Fuze Series, a dynamic range of LED wash luminaires with single-lens RGBW COB LEDs for a wide choice of colours and extremely homogenized field of light. Available in moving head or IP65-rated PAR versions, all Fuze Series fixtures (Fuze PAR Z60, Fuze PAR Z120, Fuze Wash Z120, Fuze Wash Z350) house a wide 5-50-degree zoom.
