USA - Elation Professional has introduced the TVL CYC RGBW, a theatre-style cyclorama wall wash luminaire that delivers a smooth and even field of seamlessly blended colours onto cycloramas, backcloths, scenery or any surface.

Designed for TV, film, theatre and broadcast applications, the TVL CYC RGBW features a powerful 150W RGBW LED engine for floods of uniform light in virtually any colour while linear variable white colour temperature presets (7200K - 3200K) make it a convenient white light luminaire.

Light output is measured at 884 LUX @ 6.6' yet the luminaire consumes only 170W of max power. Featuring smooth colour mixing and 16-bit dimming, the TVL CYC RGBW's Chip on Board (COB) LEDs provide not only a greater output than surface mounted LEDs, they provide a more even light distribution with better colour homogenization.

Canada - With two NHL size hockey ice pads, spacious lockers and a well-supplied pro shop, the Garnet B. Rickard Complex in Bowmanville, Ontario is an ideal sports venue. Although the modern brick building also houses a conference room for events, its event space does lack the defining architectural elements that are often necessary to add warmth to a gathering and make it more inviting.

The absence of such finishing touches can present a challenge for anyone lighting an event at the facility. However, Matthew Beauchamp of Mobile Productions met this challenge in stunning fashion at Ontario's Fire and Ice Gala recently by using Well Series uplighting fixtures from Chauvet Professional to create a more inviting atmosphere in a lacklustre space.

"This is what I would call a blank canvas," said Beauchamp. "Although the room is comfortable, there aren't a lot of architectural

Russia - Lighting rental house, Global Show Trade (GST) has set up a massive showroom at its HQ in Moscow, enabling many manufacturers, including PR Lighting, to demonstrate their products.

Initially, GST began with a standard showroom for lighting equipment, but this developed into a full production area for some of the best practitioners in the city.

The initiative of lighting specialist, Alexey Zhuravlev, the move has been welcomed by one of the company's key lighting designers, Roman Vakulyuk.

He explained, "We are inviting all lighting designers, 3D designers, lighting engineers and programmers - in fact anyone that has an important role to play in designing a light show.

"When visualising a new stage concept it is very useful to be able to connect up lighting fixtures and try something different and incredible. And of course when customers visit the showroom

UK - Lighting designer Phil Supple (of Light Refreshment) has again turned to SGM's P-5 IP65-rated wash light to create a mesmerising lighting 'trail' at the Rouken Glen Park in Glasgow for East Renfrewshire Council's Electric Glen Festival.

As the event's creative director, for three years his inspired design concept created the same wow factor as it had two years previously with a similarly memorable night time trail illumination of the Palm House at Kew Gardens - again using P-5s at the famous London World Heritage site.

Meanwhile, the self-guided illuminated trail at Rouken Glen followed the woodland paths to the holy grail - the waterfall, which was brought to life over the two weeks by 24 of the low-profile, carefully concealed P-5s. With this cavalcade of colour as a backdrop, many visitors took the opportunity of a selfie.

South Africa - Lightship Productions, owned and run by the enterprising Ni-Lou Breytenbach, is the latest South African lighting production, design and delivery specialist to invest in MA Lighting control with the purchase of an MA onPC command wing, delivered by SA distributors, DWR Distribution CC.

Lightship Productions works across all industry sectors including corporate and live events, TV productions and theatre shows, the latter hailing back to Breytenbach's industry roots. His varied workload includes designing and programming his own shows, providing operating and FOH co-ordination, support services for others and working as a lighting systems engineer.

"With business expanding, the time was right to invest in a powerful industry standard control surface," he explained. "With MA being an obvious choice - it's what most top level shows are using." As a systems tech

South Africa - Shattered Glass AV & Staging, a respected South African rental audio visual company active in the corporate realm, has invested in 12 Robe Robin DL4X Spot, eight Robin Pointes and a new Le Maitre MVS Hazer.

"We are terribly excited," said Richard Horwell of Shattered Glass. "It was time to upgrade, but we didn't want something that would be discontinued in two years' time, but rather equipment that would have a long shelf life."

Richard came across the DL4 Range at the Robe stand at Mediatech 2015, Africa's largest advanced technology trade expo. The Robin DL4X Spots were purchased from local Robe supplier DWR Distribution and delivered a couple of weeks ago. The units have gone straight onto shows and are being enjoyed by the crew. "The Pointes have all the usual selling pointes," added Richard. "They are multi-functional and that makes them very appealing.

UK - British singer and X Factor winner Leona Lewis toured the UK in February and March with an elegant lighting show designed by Jamie Thompson and controlled by Avolites Sapphire Touch and Tiger Touch II consoles.

Thompson's brief for the tour, which visited 13 cities across England, Wales and Scotland, was to create an intimate show pushing the focus on to Leona and her band as they performed new material and her internationally bestselling back catalogue.

The Sapphire Touch was used as the main console, networked via Titan v9's Multi-User feature to a backup Tiger Touch II.

"Multi-User is incredibly easy to set up and offers some great features, like being able to use the backup as a satellite console, which becomes especially useful when working in theatres where sightlines at FOH can potentially be an issue when programming," says Thompson. "Other than tha

When you rock up to Medio Angular's office - it looks like an ordinary roller shutter garage door on a quiet residential street - full of leafy trees and cool cars. The other side of the door is a large landscaped garden with terraces and full of lush foliage, alcoves for sitting and contemplating, amidst colourful flowers and funky furniture, with a recording studio and several offices flowing with contemporary chic.

This is the pastoral and inspirational working environment that Paul has created for the offices that admi

UK - Named after HRH Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh, the Princes Hall is a multi-purpose civic venue with a national reputation. For many throughout the UK, however, the 600-seat theatre in the heart of Aldershot is best known for its successful pantomime run each Christmas. There was no "happily ever after" ending in sight, though, for the facility's aging lighting rig - at least not until a collection of affordable Chauvet fixtures came to the rescue.

Now with the new LED technology available it was definitely time for a refresh. The Princes Hall was built in 1972, and the lighting rig had only a few upgrades in the past few years. This year, the venue took the major step to upgrade its lighting system and turned to equipment supply specialist Stage Electrics. Despite a limited budget, Stage Electrics was able to supply a comprehensive lighting rig, including 10 Rogue

USA - Holo-Gauze, the 3D display solution for hologram effects, has created a 20x9m installation for an augmented reality style launch of Team Speedo, the swimwear and swim accessory manufacturer's line-up of 200 super star swimmers from the UK, US, France and Spain. The New York launch brought together 24 Team Speedo athletes to promote Speedo's Fastskin LZR Racer X suit, incorporating the swimwear manufacturer's most advanced swimwear technology to date.

To introduce Team Speedo, a film charting the success of each individual athlete was projected onto the huge Holo-Gauze display installation, while the 24 champion swimmers were positioned at various heights, unseen, behind the display. Then an augmented reality style grid and info graphics (name, initials, Olympic team) were projected onto the screen, as each athlete was revealed, one by one, through the near-invisible gauz

USA - Lighting designer Bob Barnhart, a veteran of Super Bowl Halftime Shows, chose Clay Paky A.leda B-EYE K20s and gold Sharpys to help light the milestone Super Bowl 50 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Super Bowl Halftime Shows always come with challenges, and the daylight-into-sunset timing of this year's entertainment made it "much more complex from a lighting standpoint," Barnhart notes. "We had fewer fixtures than normally because of the ambient sun and the small portion of stadium lights we used."

It was Barnhart's lighting design goal "to bring the kaleidoscopic colour from the LED floor on the Coldplay main stage into the entire stadium. That was the centrepiece of the creative approach: to make the stadium part of the show. That's why we did a colourful card stunt with the fans and placed Color Bloc IIs on the railings. With a daylight Halftime Show

USA- At the Polynesian Cultural Centre (PCC) in Hawaii, Richard Sidal operates as theatrical computer system analyst, handling all computerised lighting systems as well as maintenance, installations and programming of some of the shows. Currently, he is also working on upgrades for the theatres and Luau venues, which includes a comprehensive fixture replacement that started last year.

After experiencing a lot of issues and constant breakdowns and repairs of their 1200 W spots, despite the fact that they were placed under protective domes, PCC decided it was time to renew the lighting rig. Situated close to the sea, Sidal is well aware of the challenges of the site.

"We are an outdoor venue and very close to the sea. Sea breeze carries a lot of salt and moisture ruining all metal parts as well as high humidity. Plus, the show uses lots of flames and the oil residue goes rig

USA - John McKernon and City Theatrical have announced that Lightwright 6, the newest version of the multi-award-winning software for managing entertainment lighting paperwork, will be released in April 2016.

An industry standard on Broadway and in other areas of live entertainment, Lightwright was created to help designers and electricians record and keep track of the vast amount of data needed to install and maintain a lighting installation. Lightwright 6 was launched at USITT 2016 in Salt Lake City.

As the lighting world has increased in complexity due to the proliferation of moving lights and LEDs, the organizational demands on lighting designers, design assistants, and electricians has continued to grow. Lightwright 6, for the first time, fulfils a long-time industry dream of controlling the flow of lighting data from design to console without needing to enter data mu

Germany - MDG is set to unleash its most powerful fog generator ever, the Me8, at Prolight+Sound 2016, Frankfurt.

The biggest of the Me Series, the Me8 is an eight-nozzled monster that pumps out a massive 800m3 of fog per minute to deliver exceptional results on a vast scale.

Designed primarily for large-scale applications, both indoor and out, and destined for huge venues and stadia, the Me8 is also designed for fire fighter and military training, ventilation testing and special effects for movies.

Yet, despite its enormous power, the Me8 is extremely economical on fluid, using only 8L of MDG fluid an hour at maximum output, says the company.

The arrival of the Me8 marks the completion of the Me Series of fog generators which has been designed as the latest stage in MDG's evolution of fog. The Me Series represents a new family of generators with a higher degree of

Compact, lightweight and easy to install with a quick-rig mounting system, Dalis' eight-colour mixing LED system and 16-bit control result in an almost infinite range of repeatable colour possibilities, including true tunable white from 6500K to 2200K.

This year's Prolight+Sound stand will demonstrate the Dalis effect in large format as 20 Dalis units are used in unison over an 8m x 7m cyclo

Mexico - Lighting designer Dave Maxwell has been involved in Luis Miguel shows since 2008 and for a string of recent sold out dates at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City used 60 Elation ACL 360 Matrix moving panel LED effect lights to complement the Latin American music icon's show.

On his current 2016 tour, Maxwell serves as show designer, handling all creative and visual aspects of the show including set design, content, video and lighting. Lighting and video vendor for the shows was Serpro Productiones, one of the biggest rental houses in northern Mexico. Elation's Mexican partner ADIMSA sold the Elation fixtures to Serpro and provided them with support on the tour.

"I had been using some other LED panels and was offered the chance to switch to the ACL 360 Matrix by Serpro for a run of shows at the Auditorio in Mexico City and very much liked them," Maxwell comments. "Ty
