UK - Green Hippo has announced Adrian Gilby and Philippe Levieux as new members of the software development team.

Levieux will be joining Green Hippo's programming team under the title of researcher and software developer, aiding the production of new features in up and coming releases of Hippotizer software.

Gilby is a programmer who also works under the title of software developer, using his experience of a variety of languages and APIs. He has concentrated mainly on realtime rendering and 3D graphics using C and C++. For most of his career he has worked in the games industry or for middleware companies. Chambers worked at AV Tech for nine years where he was in charge of the lighting department and managed the crew. In October last year he started freelancing.

South Africa - Nick Barnes has joined DWR Distribution in Durban. From 2006 to 2008, Barnes studied Entertainment Technology at the Durban University of Technology, and often helped out at Black Coffee during this time. In his final year he got involved with Gearhouse Durban and proceeded to join the company as junior lighting technician and lighting workshop manager. He was only 20 years old at the time.

"I got behind Jason Fritz who was then at Gearhouse, and he and Simon Hampton mentored me," recalls Barnes. "I obviously learned all I could about lighting, rigging and power. Offer Lapid was really good to me as was Stuart Andrews, who was the branch manager at the time."

Barnes then took a sales position at Electronic SA Durban Branch where he stayed for close to two years.
