UK - Astera’s PixelBrick won a 2021 PLASA Award for Innovation – one of two lighting products out of the six 2021 winners selected from 29 entries – as the PLASA entertainment technology trade show returned to Olympia after a pandemic forced absence in 2020.
The judges commented, “this is not just another battery uplighter, but a well-engineered and thought-out lighting system augmented with a wide set of accessories.” They felt it would allow designers a greater degree of creativity in an assortment of lighting applications.

UK - Using the opportunity of the first trade show for many months, Nexo unveied its ePS Series of loudspeakers for professional installation. Three two-way passive cabinets and two partner subbass units are the first models in a new range, which Nexo says delivers its “high-quality European engineering at a cost-effective price that will galvanise budget-sensitive projects”.
Drawing on 25 years of success with the PS Series, the company has slimmed down connection and mounting options whilst taking advantage of new manufacturing techniques and driver design to hit “unprecedented price points” for its industry-standard point source products. ePS models will provide a way for many public and private installation projects to access a Nexo-badged system without breaking the bank, says the company.

UK - The winners of the 2021 PLASA Awards for Innovation were announced on Monday at the PLASA Show as it made its return to Olympia London. Twenty-nine products were entered this year, with six awards being presented in addition to two special commendations. This year’s judging team was comprised of nine independent technical specialists from a wide array of backgrounds. They said of the R10: "The judges commend the controllable, adjustable low-mid dispersion of this product, adding that the inclusion of the different mid-high frequency waveguides increases the flexibility for a touring show and is a feature that has not been seen before in a speaker of this type."

Europe - Yamaha has announced new additions to its line-up of professional audio speakers, the powered DHR series and passive CHR series, each with three models optimized to ‘meet the demands of a variety of sound reinforcement applications’.
Positioned between the flagship DZR / CZR series and the popular, affordable DBR / CBR series, all DHR and CHR units feature custom transducers, premium plywood cabinets and a tough polyurea coating.
The DHR15 and CHR15 two-way, 15-inch units are designed for front of house applications, including dual angle pole mount sockets, M10 rigging options and excellent full range performance.

USA - Chauvet Professional’s aptly named Rouge Outcast 1 BeamWash is a new compact IP65 rated fixture, which weighs only 20.2 lbs.
“The Rogue Outcast 1 BeamWash breaks new ground,” said Albert Chauvet, CEO of Chauvet. “By going beyond the standard beam/wash concept to include an outer ring, we’ve been able to offer designers a compact, but powerful, fixture that opens a world of design possibilities.”
Made up of 97 RGB LEDs, the pixel mappable outer ring features 12 zones of control and can be run independently from the centre pixel beam/wash. A stealth filter hides the outer ring when it’s not in use, so the fixture appears and works as a pure beam/wash.
Designers can control the background colour and foreground effects independently on the outer rim. This allows them to create complex multi-coloured looks on the rim whether they are pixel mapping
