The SolaTheatre is the first lighting instrument in the SolaRange family to feature completely fanless operation. USA - Airstar announced at LDI the enhancement of its successful Crystal range with the launch of two new innovative products - Sunshade and Crystal White 50k lum.

Following a successful pilot test at the Solidays and Musilac music festivals in France this summer, Airstar introduced Sunshade to the Crystal range; a large lighting umbrella which transforms the Crystal lighting balloon technology into a new envelope shape. Measuring 2.2 or 2.6m in diameter, it features the same RGB LED lights that can be found on the Crystal balloons, and is DMX controllable.

At Solidays, Sunshades were deployed as decorative party tables, tailored to the needs of the festival. Rigged on a 2.75m high structure, they were weighted by a 200kg base, hidden by a cover. USA - Doughty Engineering's new Articulated Carriage made its official debut at this year's LDI show. Visitors to stand 1946 got the opportunity to see the new product which Doughty has added to its Studio Rail 60 range and which has been designed with film, TV and theatre in mind.

Speaking ahead of the show, Dan Phillips, project sales co-ordinator at Doughty, said, "We are extremely excited to give this Articulated Carriage an official debut - it's an item I felt was missing from the Studio Rail 60 range, so I've spent time on the design to ensure it works seamlessly. USA - Robe enjoyed an action-packed LDI expo in Las Vegas, this year all the more memorable for collecting a 2016 Parnelli award in the indispensable Lighting Technology category for the successful BMFL WashBeam luminaire.

Robe highlighted two new products for the first time at a U.S. exhibition - the Spiider LED wash beam - "the next big thing" from the Czech manufacturer, and Halo, an ingenious new LED 'pixel technology' device. Also new was the Spikie, a small, super-fast LED wash beam.

The full BMFL range of high powered signature moving lights, popular in the US, were also prominent on the stand, together with the elegant DL series of potent LED luminaires designed specifically for the demanding worlds of theatre and performance. Sweden - Aura Light is well known for its light sources with long lifetime and high quality. The Swedish made LED tube, Aura UltiLED Long Life, has a guaranteed lifetime of 58,000 hours. After additional testing Aura Light can now confirm an even longer lifetime expectancy of this particular LED light source. The tests show a theoretical lifetime of up to 147 000 hours, equivalent to almost 17 years of non-stop burning light, says the company.

USA - LDI 2016 was twice as nice for Chauvet Professional, as the company's new freestanding theatrical lighting demonstration booth drew large and appreciative crowds throughout the three-day show. Located across the aisle from the Chauvet Professional main booth, the new demo area highlighted the company's Ovation LED ellipsoidals, Fresnels, battens and cyc lights, as well as its COLORado wash fixtures.

Germany - Panasonic has announced the launch of the Panasonic PT-RZ31K Series, designed for applications requiring brighter, immersive and ultra-reliable projection in auditoriums, museums and large event settings. Europe - The Laserworld Christmas laser light effects are more than just firefly starshower lasers: They project actual Christmas themed patterns in different colours. Bells, Christmas trees, stars, Santas and more are displayed in red & green or blue & green, depending on the product model.

The Christmas lasers are designed as waterproof devices (IP67), so they can be used outdoor as well. Some models come with radio remote control, which allows for the control of colours, rotation and pattern change speed, as well as for selecting additional strobe effects.

The Christmas themed projection effect is generated with glass gobos in combination with an optical diffraction grating, so the effect does not flicker, like it would do with normal scanners. Due to the diffraction grating it has a wide projection angle, too.

Italy - Proel has released new 3.2 version GLL files for its Axiom AX2065, AX2010, SW36F, and SW215F loudspeaker models for use with the widely used industry-standard EASE Focus 3 sound system modelling software which allows 3D modeling of line arrays, sub arrays, and conventional loudspeakers.

These newly updated files have been completely calculated following a whole new set of accurate measurements in order to obtain a more realistic simulation and better resolution. USA - Chroma-Q's Color Force II has won two awards at the LDI in Las Vegas. The fixture was recognised as the Best Debuting Conventional Lighting Fixture by LDI and took the Members Product Choice Equipment Award awarded by ESTA, the Entertainment and Services Technology Association.

The LDI judges said, "The Chroma-Q Color Force 2 showed a stunning face and elegant colour mixing, both as a smooth surface wash and as a clean visual look."

UK - Baldwin Boxall has announced that its popular Omnicare EVC system can now be extended to include up to 8,064 outstations. The company admits that it is 'extremely unlikely' that a system on this scale would be needed, but it does mean that previous limitations no longer exist.

Known as 'OmnicarePLUS', the system provides a touchscreen interface as the master point of control, with local areas taken care of via standard style panels.

Should a site require it, additional touchscreen control points can be added to the system; enabling placement in alternative control or security rooms. These will be 'slave' or 'mimic' panels unless full control is transferred due to comprise of the master control point or as required by the user(s).

Each local area control panel can handle up to 64 outstations and these can be any combination of any of the outstation types available
