UK - There are no signs of slowing down for Triple E as a busy year draws to a close. The Kent-based stage-engineering manufacturer reports a busier team and factory than ever in the run up to the festive season.
“The momentum we have seen in all areas of the business this year is continuing,” reflects deputy director, Lucy Edelstein. “The autumn has been incredibly busy and it’s been non-stop since the PLASA Show in September.”
At PLASA Show 2019, Triple E took the opportunity to present two product prototypes to the industry - the Points System and the Bocking Block.

UK - Antony Gormley Studio enlisted the expertise of Unusual Rigging for the sculptor's recent exhibition at the Royal Academy. Gormley's retrospective, which ran until 3 December, has wowed art lovers and novices alike, having been designed to put 'the visitor centre-stage'. It was spread across 13 rooms, all calling for physical and imaginative participation from those who visited the Academy to see his work.

Lithuania - Sixty82 has entered into an exclusive partnership with Scenos Techninis Servisas (STS) as its distributor for the Lithuanian market.

UK - This month saw the 10th anniversary of Lumiere - the UK’s largest light festival - take place in Durham. The event, run by Artichoke, has been transforming cities across the UK since 2009, with each Lumiere festival inviting local and international artists to create works that reimagine familiar buildings and public spaces, changing the way we experience our urban surroundings.
Over the 10 years since the first Lumiere, Unusual Rigging has been a key supplier in the delivery of specialist rigging and engineering for the festival in Durham. Engineers, riggers and technicians work with Artichoke’s production teams to design solutions to the most challenging projects, from working in delicate heritage environments such as Durham Cathedral to rigging artworks over the river Wear or across the historic medieval streets.

Switzerland - In the summer of 2019, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne gave new performances of Dixit, the ‘cinema-ballet-theatre’ show written and directed by Marc Hollogne, in tribute to its founder, Maurice Béjart. To embark the audience on the choreographer's story and work, the company relied on Modulo Kinetic and its real-time tracking module, KineMotion.
To pay tribute to its creator, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne worked with Marc Hollogne to write and direct Dixit, a show that combines dance, acting and video projection to tell the story of Maurice Béjart's life and work.

World - Live event staging company All Access has refreshed its visual identity - complete with a new logo and website - to better reflect the products and services it delivers.
The rebrand includes a new logo with 'All Access' in red and black and the company's classic strapline 'All the time' placed underneath.
"Many consider the original logo to be an icon in the industry and symbolic of quality," says the company in a statement. "However, just as the entertainment industry as a whole has evolved, All Access has evolved. USA - Doughty Engineering’s latest pieces of kit - the Scaff Boom Arm and Fifty Clamp - are set to take centre stage on the company’s stand 2424 at this year’s LDI Show. Spain - Fantek International, a company that specialises in manufacturing tower lifts, trusses and stage platforms, played a key role in the success of this year's San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF) by providing a custom-made truss frame for the festival's main projection screen.
Inaugurated in 1953 and held annually at the Kursaal Palace in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain, SSIFF attracts numerous A list actors and directors whose presence brings star appeal and glamour to this week-long homage to celluloid. Europe - Sixty82 has opened a new office in Drachten, The Netherlands, to exclusively service the German market.

UK - The market value of the UK entertainment technology industry has grown by an estimated 5% in the past 12 months, according to PLASA research.
This puts the industry’s value at £1.36bn in 2018/19, up from £1.30bn in 2017/18. The sectors with the largest growth include architecture, broadcast and corporate events, which are valued at £250m, £220m and £160m respectively.
Only a third of the businesses surveyed expect the industry to grow in 2019/20 however, the main concern being how and when the UK will exit the European Union.
The full report, which follows on from PLASA’s comprehensive industry research released in 2018, details sector by sector performance, investment in marketing and R&D, and the future outlook for the industry.

UK - TAIT has acquired Wakefield-based Brilliant Stages to create “an even more competitive platform capable of deploying a truly global suite of live event technology and solutions”.
The leadership and staff at both companies is expected to remain the same. It is unclear if Brilliant will continue to exist as a separate brand, but TAIT has stated that “the combined management teams see the value of building a global brand.” All existing projects will continue as scheduled and all points of contact will remain the same.

UK - Big the Musical closed at the Dominion Theatre in London's West End this weekend following a successful nine-week run. The Theatre Royal Plymouth production opened in 2016 and played at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin into 2017. Finally after more than two years, it made its West End debut in September with production manager Hugh Borthwick bringing Unusual Rigging on board to handle the rigging elements of this ambitious production.

It is an intense evening full of visual spectacle, where visitors dine in the middle of a vibrant story that is told in a visual, musical and culinary way. In recent months, Studio 21 has been completely rebuilt especially for this show, with the kitchen in the centre of the room and a high-tech decor in which the stage, the video and audio are in a 360° setting around the guests.

Australia - Specialising in large-scale projections, The Electric Canvas utilised Modulo Pi media servers on three major projection sites at the latest edition of White Night Melbourne. This year, the previously all-night event was “reimagined”, taking place in winter instead of summer and being extended to a three-night festival.
Modulo Kinetic was deployed for Mad Max Fury Road, a huge multimedia extravaganza set against the backdrop of the heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building. The 15-minute live show featured projection mapping by Australian company The Electric Canvas, who used footage from the award-winning |Fury Road movie as well as original motion graphics in the content production.

Europe - Trussing, staging and hoists manufacturer Prolyte has been acquired by Area Four Industries.
The news of the acquisition comes shortly after Prolyte filed for bankruptcy. Prolyte will retain its brand identity but will undergo a management, production and strategic reorganisation.

USA - With just less than a month to go until LDI 2019, organisers have announced they expect record attendance and participation in this year’s events.
