Finland - Barcelona-based Amate Audio has announced the appointment of BLC Turva as its exclusive official distributor in Finland.
The appointment of the large scale IT and network services company supersedes the previous multiple distributor network in the country, and marks BLC Turva’s inaugural distribution of a dedicated professional audio loudspeaker brand.
Spearheading the entry of BLC Turva into pro audio is project manager, Juho Kekarainen. Kekarainen has five years previous association with the loudspeaker company as its principal representative at Tecline OY.
Amate Audio’s head of sales, Jordi Amate, states, “Juho was previously ‘our man in Finland’ for five years and it is a major opportunity to partner with him again in his new position within BLC Turva. Our partnership in the past was highly productive, with high levels of sales in the c

France - Last summer, DJ Florian Picasso wowed his fans with a livestream set, accompanied by hypnotic projection mapping and pyrotechnics, from his great-grandfather Pablo’s former residence in Cannes.
The light show at Villa La Californie brought the exterior of the building to life and delighted not only his neighbours on the Riviera but also an audience of millions worldwide. In an equally compelling follow-up, Florian recently staged another stream from inside the villa, this time in conjunction with artist Cyril Kongo, for the benefit of Maria Bravo and Eva Longoria’s Global Gift Foundation. The show sought to raise awareness and funds for Vietnamese orphanages.
The event was staged from the living room of the villa which was transformed, with the addition of paintings, sketches and sculptures to its original state as Pablo Picasso’s studio. As Florian’s

World - Hippotizer’s Nevis+ Media Server is proving to be an essential tool for smaller productions around the world, offering the features and power of its ‘bigger brother’ stablemates but in a more compact and affordable package.
Some of the world’s leading visual design companies have embraced the creative possibilities of the Nevis+ since it was launched in July 2020, using it as a simple-to-use training and demo option as well as specifying it for small to mid-size events.
Maggie Zhu at KUPO (Keep Ur Performance Outstanding) Shanghai was one of the first investors in a Nevis+.
“The main attraction of Nevis+ is its price, coupled with the fact we can use all of Hippotizer's comprehensive software features,” she says. “For us, the main market for Hippotizer is for performance and theatre. Nevis+ is the right solution for these events, as one mach

USA - Lewis & Clark Library located in Helena, Montana, has commissioned a new public address paging system, opting for a Martin Audio solution - designed and installed by locally based AV integration company, Montana Pro Audio.
They were awarded the contract after the library, which was established in 1868 before Montana became a territory, received a higher-than-expected bid for the desired AV integration design. After receiving a request for proposal, and undertaking a number of revisions and redesigns, Montana Pro Audio specified the solution from Martin Audio’s Adorn catalogue.
“The original scope of contract was for a public address paging system throughout the library, as well as AV for their large community room that would double as a presentation space and small theatre and a small community room that would be used for meetings and presentations,” ex

USA - Many of today’s most popular reality TV shows film in different locations around the world. This is the bread and butter of production sound mixer Stu Chacon, a veteran of such series as Hot Ones and Sneaker Shopping. For thriving in the ever-changing RF situations brought on by constant international travel, he depends on wideband wireless from Lectrosonics: the all-new, all-digital DCR822 dual-channel receivers paired with SMWB and SMDWB Digital Hybrid Wireless transmitters. His kit is rounded out with UCR411a receivers, plus IFB-R1a receivers and legacy UM400a transmitters for comms.
“Currently I’m working on a hit show about international romance, one partner moving to be with the other, that kind of thing,” says Chacon. “We travel internationally about 90 percent of the time.”
The DCR822 is part of Lectrosonics’ latest generation

USA - University of South Florida (USF) is a state research university located in the heart of Tampa Bay. With a student population of almost 50,000 students across 14 different colleges, USF prides itself as being at the cutting edge of medicine, science, engineering, the arts and more.
Early last year, USF’s IT team tested and subsequently acquired a Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC2) system in one of its main conference rooms, moving one step closer to realising its vision of having a microphone in every classroom.
Once the pandemic hit in March of 2020, the USF IT team - and by extension the entire university - was faced with a pressing need to make its vision of implementing a campus-wide, hybrid learning scenario a reality. The Sennheiser TCC2 which had already been installed in one of the campus’ high-profile meeting rooms paved the way for the USF to g

The Netherlands - The CRMS-SRIW/9090 is a wide dispersion reference main / screen system - or compact surround system in immersive sound-for-picture applications.
It can also be used as full-range sound system in any installed audio application, where quality sound reproduction with inconspicuous in-wall or on-wall mounting is required, says Alcons.
Typical applications include sound system for auditoria, performing arts theatres, houses of worship, screening rooms, post-production facilities and dubbing stages, premium Home Cinemas and quality-conscious cinemas.
The CRMS-SRIW/9090 is like its sibling CRMS-SRIW/9040 part of the CRMS system series.

Finland - Musician, producer and mixing engineer Jyrki ‘Speedy’ Saarinen installed an Audient ASP4816 mixing desk in his Mediagents Helsinki studio last summer as part of a renovation project.
Speedy splits his time equally between his studio and working for Finnish National Broadcasting Company, YLE. Here he has mixed and recorded hundreds of different events for them over the years - everything from music festivals to sport events, for broadcast on TV and radio. He mixed for the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki - the first surround sound broadcast in Eurovision history.
“We needed an analogue console for recording and especially for mixing,” says Speedy. “We searched the market for the alternatives and noticed that ASP4816 fitted our needs well. The Audient signal chain including the EQ’s have turned out to be very useful. They don’t add noise

China - The Shanghai Stock Exchange – the world's fourth largest stock market – is located within a financial centre in Shanghai that also includes the China Financial Futures Exchange and China Securities Depository and Clearing Co. And at the heart of a professional audio upgrade within the Shanghai Stock Exchange Auditorium are premium loudspeaker solutions from Renkus-Heinz.
The auditorium is an architecturally impressive space featuring a number of design challenges. Seating rises from the front of the theatre, and the design features large red walls to separate seating areas. The steep rake of the seating required consideration to the vertical coverage of the audio system. Thus, the Renkus-Heinz PN102/LA series line array was selected and deployed.
The self-powered PN102LA-RD is a fully integrated electro-acoustic solution designed to deliver fidelity and cov

Europe - The RØDE Wireless GO II is an ultra-compact and versatile dual channel wireless microphone system. The system offers ‘the same pocket-sized form factor and sound quality as the Wireless GO, with a host of incredible new features making it even more powerful and flexible’.
“The original Wireless GO was a gamechanger,” says RØDE CEO Damien Wilson. “It truly revolutionised sound capture for everyone from vloggers to business professionals producing content while working from home. UK - Audio consultancy and networking specialist RH Consulting has been counting networked audio products and licensees since 2013 in an effort to chart the adoption of audio networking in the pro audio, AV and broadcast markets. The report covers all the major protocols including Dante, RAVENNA, AVB, Milan and others, and comes in two parts: the headline totals, followed in a few weeks with more comprehensive data on protocols, compatibility and rate of adoption.
Part one logs a total of 3,306 networked products currently shipping from 420 manufacturers, and that number is going up all the time. That’s nearly two new products every day in the past year. “We were pleased to note that the current pandemic doesn’t seem to have had a great impact on new product launches - Dante, for example, has passed the milestone of 3,000 shipping products,” observes RHC’s Roland

UK - Flipside Soundsystem has recently assisted Ashington Parish Church with a new audio installation, helping the parish modernise the building by delivering a balanced sound for energetic performances, streaming sessions and small communal services. The systems integrator installed a variety of speakers and amplifiers from TW AUDiO and Powersoft to cover the space.
Renovated 15 years ago with additions such as a new kitchen and underfloor heating, the church has been stripped back of some of the décor and furnishings from the stage area, allowing a low reverberation for a somewhat traditional space. “It’s a friendly layout for a church,” says Flipside managing director, James Cooper. “It’s not a particularly reverberant room and with the audience capacity being around 300, you don’t need anything massive to fill up that type of space.”

UK - Reflex, Audio Visual Material (AVM), and Christie have collaborated on one of the largest rear projection systems in Europe at Queen Mary University of London. Two Christie Crimson HD laser projectors have been installed for the 12m by 6m (39 ft x 19.5 ft) screen in The Great Hall, an 800-seat space in a 1930s art deco building.
Raj Dattani, senior technical design engineer at Reflex led the installation and chose to work again with AVM and Christie teams seven years after the initial installation. “We have gone from two 10K projectors, four lamps, and regular maintenance checks to triple the brightness and no maintenance with laser,” he said. Additionally, a switch to AV over IP distribution means just one cable to the projector, giving users and clients huge flexibility.
Queen Mary University is a leading Russel Group university, with more than 25,000 studen

China - The province of Jiangxi witnessed its only large scale outdoor symphonic concert of 2020 at the Ruijin Sports Centre Stadium in Ganzhou in November last year.
Featuring a gala performance by orchestra, singers and actors, the cultural celebration was attended by a number of civic dignitaries who joined the large audience to enjoy a spectacular show.
Jiangxi-based audio specialists, Zhongsheng Music International Cultural Media Co., a customer of Coda Audio’s Chinese distributor Tempo, took care of production, and used a Coda system to deliver pinpoint sound in a potentially difficult acoustic space.
The stadium’s acoustics and stage orientation posed serious challenges for the audio team. A number of constraints, including multiple highly reflective surfaces had previously led many sceptical commentators to doubt whether it was at all possible to ach

Japan - The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Queen have graced its stage; artists from Bob Dylan to Blur have released albums recorded within its walls. Now, live music has returned to the Nippon Budokan, as rising J-pop stars Little Glee Monster recently kicked off their Japanese tour at the Tokyo venue. An Adamson Systems Engineering system supported the ground-breaking event for the group, the start of their largest arena tour to date.
The Budokan was built in 1964 as a martial arts competition space for the Tokyo Summer Olympics. The venue’s octagonal shape can make sound reinforcement difficult, but system engineer Ryuichi Kawakami selected Adamson speakers for their clarity and coverage.
Kawakami describes the space’s challenges: “The Budokan is mostly built with wood, and many sections of the octagonal room have pillars and beams, so in the design process you mus

UK - Prime Minister Boris Johnson has revealed the four steps England is set to take towards “cautious yet irreversible” easing of lockdown restrictions over the coming months. The roadmap indicates that theatres, cinemas and other indoor entertainment attractions could reopen with reduced capacity and social distancing measures in place as part of step three, provisionally set to take place from 17 May. Johnson specifically said that as part of step three “theatres and concert halls can reopen their doors”, with pilots of larger events set to take place using enhanced testing. If coronavirus rates continue to fall as predicted, step four could see all restrictions lifted in England from 21 June. This will mean all sectors should be able to reopen.
The #WeMakeEvents campaign has issued the following statement in response to the announcement: “We welcome

The complex, located in Rezzato, on the outskirts of Brescia, occupies an area of 2,700 m2 above ground and includes a series of buildings at the service of the local community and neighbouring areas.
At the centre of the structure, there is a multi-function hall, the project’s key element: a large oval-shaped space designed for use as a theatre and cinema, but also to host exhibitions, events, conferences and much more.
A feature of this hall is the fact that, thanks to a special shutter system, it opens outwards, enabling to hold events with the stage used in the opposite direction, looking out over the rear outdoor audience area.
