UK - A new pro audio distributor, AUX Import, has officially launched, offering brands such as CatCore, UNiKA and NEXT Audiocom.
Following a career in pro audio, founder and sales director, Mike Newman explains his drive to start the company.
“Having worked over 20 years in live events I felt that experience could lead me to better understand what installers, integrators and rental companies were looking for; both in terms of products and service. Having worked around the world for audio manufacturers for many years I had become aware of several unrepresented brands who I felt could succeed in the UK market. AUX Import has been founded on a culmination of these two things, which is already proving to be a winning formula.”
AUX Import currently offers exclusive products from the German ‘XLR over Cat’ manufacturer CatCore as well as UNiKA Pro Audio, the man

UK - The Llanerch Vineyard Hotel near Pontyclun in South Wales, with its beautiful surrounding grounds, is a popular venue, principally for weddings but also hosting conferences, corporate events, galas and parties.
A large marquee is a permanent fixture there and provides ample space for over 200 guests when required. In common with so many similar venues, the pandemic had caused a huge backlog of weddings and despite its rural location, the sudden rise in noise levels following reopening was causing some difficulties with nearby residents.
Spartan Audio Visual of Cardiff were approached to design, supply and commission an installed sound system that would meet all the various needs of a modern multi-purpose venue, yet also meet the noise control requirements of the area.

Henry had previously been financial controller at parent company Focusrite. “An internal move is great for the company and generally for everyone involved. I’ve effectively had a six-year interview process to prove myself with Focusrite, so it was a lovely surprise to be told I was being considered. UK - Established in 1583, the University of Edinburgh is one of the world's oldest universities in continuous operation. The university has five main campuses in Edinburgh that support more than 42,000 students, placing the university among the top 10 largest universities in the UK.
In early 2020, as the realities of the pandemic were starting to take hold, the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh reached out to the university's Learning Spaces Technology team asking for a way to share audio between its three instruction labs, and then also share audio back-and-forth with students attending remotely. At the time, because of campus restrictions, the university could not bring contractors or electricians onsite to install the new audio cable systems needed.
Faced with the challenge, the Learning Spaces Technology team began researching IP-based audio to m

The bi-amplified, DSP-controlled loudspeaker features the same high-resolution tweeter as all Neumann studio monitors and a newly developed 6.5” woofer with ultra-low distortion and high SPL capability.
Despite its rather compact format, the KH 150 offers ‘outstanding clarity’, even at high volume, and extended low-end. The KH 150 has a flat frequency response from 39 Hz to 21 kHz (±3 dB) and is recommended for all applications from broadcast to music production, including styles that require a powerful, deep low-end and/or elevated listening levels such as urban music, EDM, and film scoring.
“The KH 150 closes the gap between the KH 120 and the KH 310, but it does far more than that,” says portfolio manager Stephan Mauer. “Its internal DSP engi

The Netherlands - Renowned pastry chef and bread specialist, Eric van Otten, recently established a new food concept for his patisserie that creates multiple atmospheric eating zones with the help of Powersoft’s Dynamic Music Distribution (DMD).

UK - Following the success of the inaugural South Facing Festival at the Crystal Palace Bowl last year, festival director Marcus Weedon requested the same formula for this year’s 10-day event. And that included Martin Audio’s MLA loudspeaker array, supplied once again by Capital Sound (part of the Solotech UK group).
This served the requirements of a bill, including London Grammar, Bombay Bicycle Club, Jungle, Becky Hill and Richard Ashcroft.
Two other key developments helped boost the quality of the sound, as Solotech project manager David Preston - who was working alongside production manager, Julia Bruns, and site/production specialists, LS Events - explained. Driven by the positive feedback, and absence of complaints from neighbours last year, he noted that levels within the bowl were raised from an SPL of 96dB(A) to 98dB(A) for this year, while the tech team s
