UK - Festival attraction the Tree Top Troubadour, otherwise known as Ben Trevor, has begun using a Shure QLX-D wireless microphone system for his guitar and vocals on his summer dates, most recently at July's Larmer Tree festival.

As his nickname suggests, Trevor - an arborist in his day job - is well-known for playing his concerts from the branches of trees, which somewhat limits his options for amplification to wireless-based systems. The QLX-D's extended battery life and efficient spectrum usage have proved a boon at his festival gigs, given the heavy usage of the RF spectrum at modern festivals, and the fact that replacement batteries and charging facilities are not readily available when you're performing high up in an oak with only a Chesterfield sofa and a glitterball for company, as Trevor was at Larmer.

Germany - For the 25th Anniversary of Audi's Summer Concert series inside its factory in Ingolstadt, Germany, Meyer Sound Leopard linear sound reinforcement and Constellation active acoustic systems formed the foundation of an extraordinary audio experience for both the audience and musicians. The combination transformed a cavernous space that normally stamps out steel side panels for the Audi A3 into a temporary concert hall worthy of hosting the London Symphony Orchestra and conductor Kent Nagano.

The concert was the first show where Constellation worked hand-in-glove with the new Meyer Sound Leopard line arrays. While Constellation provided a virtual orchestra shell to envelop musicians with the sonic environment of a concert hall, twin arrays of eight-each Leopard loudspeakers projected the performance to about 1,000 audience members.

Saudi Arabia - Masjid al-Haram, the holiest shrine in Islam, is now visited by over 3m Hajj pilgrims annually. In order to provide the best facilities to the legions of devout Muslims, The Custodian of Two Holy Mosques (the former King) Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz undertook the expansion of the Holy Mosque and associated elements. A part of this project has been the complete upgrade of the Mecca Mokabariah facility's microphones to the latest digital models from Sennheiser. These microphones are being used at all prayer locations around the Kaaba, and in the Mokabariah studios from where all audio content and prayers originating from Mecca are broadcast across the world.

The major advantage of the upgrade has been that though on-going construction relating to the expansion has required shifting of the microphones to locations that are large distances away from the studios, the qualit

UK - With branches in nine cities across the UK, Calvary Apostolic Assembly - founded in Birmingham in 2005 - is a thoroughly modern, multinational Pentecostal church.

A weekly programme that includes everything from daily early morning prayer meetings to a webcast Sunday morning service means the Birmingham church is a busy hub of activity. And given that the various gatherings all have their own distinct audio needs - from individual speakers to amplified instrumental groups and choirs - it's a church that's demanding of its in-house PA system.

That system is a PreSonus StudioLive 32.4.2AI digital mixing console and StudioLive RM32AI rack-mount digital mixer - networked over AVB with an SL-AVB-MIX card and Cat 5 digital multicore - that allows for real flexibility and, crucially, remarkable ease-of-use for church members.

UK - Tannoy has introduced new CMS and CVS Retrofit Adapter Kits that enable fast, secure installation of Tannoy ceiling loudspeakers inside existing back-cans from third party manufacturers or, in other scenarios, utilizing existing ceiling cutouts that were sized for other loudspeakers. By using the Retrofit Kits, installation contractors can upgrade to the premium quality sound of Tannoy while minimizing additional installation time and costs.

"We know of many instances where acoustical consultants or end users have wanted to replace existing loudspeakers with Tannoy ceiling products," says Stuart Archibald, product manager. "However, too often the added installation costs were prohibitive when the back-cans or ceiling tiles - or both - had to be replaced. With the Adapter Kits, in many cases new Tannoy units will fit neatly in place of the old units, using the

USA - By offering both a "classic" service and a "connect" service every Sunday, First Baptist Church in Claremore, Oklahoma has been successful in building its congregation. Both services are big productions. The "classic" service requires sound reinforcement for primarily traditional orchestral instruments, whereas the "connect" service delivers a modern-rock vibe with high-energy music, video, and lighting.

As First Baptist pushed its offerings into exciting new territory, they inevitably outgrew their decade-old sound reinforcement system, which they pushed to the point of chronic equipment failure. With a media-driven worship service, FBCC needed a reliable upgrade to deliver the gospel within its 1,500-plus seat sanctuary. The church called on McClelland Sound, Kansas, Oklahoma, and western Missouri's family-owned and operated audio/

USA - International Keyboard Odyssiad and Festival (IKOF), an annual competition dedicated to promoting the next generation of pianists, tasked the recording engineer and producer Mirko Canji with recording the intensive five-day event. Seeking the most accurate recording of the master classes, evening concerts and semi-final and final rounds of the event, Canji, who specializes in chamber and orchestral music arranged a combination of DPA Microphones powered by Grace Design's m802 remote-controlled microphone preamplifier to do the job. He employed DPA's d:dicate 4006A Omnidirectional Microphones in stereo and surround setups, respectively. He also selected the company's d:facto Vocal

Vietnam - Vietnam has spent the last decade as one of the world's fastest-growing economies. As its business and industrial sectors have expanded, so has its entertainment infrastructure, with past years witnessing the arrival of numerous superb new venues - among the more recent of which is the eye-catching Chill Skybar overlooking Ho Chi Minh City.

Since opening its doors for the first time in 2011, the Chill Skybar has become one of the most popular leisure destinations in Vietnam's largest city. But a persistent issue with noise spillage meant that its audio specification was ultimately deemed to be inadequate - hence the decision to enlist locally-based AV firm DesignLive Technologies to undertake an upgrade.

"The venue was very highly regarded, but there was a problem with the sound quality and noise bleed had resulted in complaints from neighbouring properties,&quo
