New Zealand - Allen & Heath's Qu-32 compact digital mixers were used throughout the recent Auckland Folk Festival, managing FOH and monitor sound for all three stages.

The three stages comprised the Festival Stage, Mill Stage and new for 2016, the Village Stage. Selected by PA company, SoundandLight.co.nz, Qu-32 mixers were installed at FOH and monitors on each stage, with AR2412 and AR84 racks for additional remote IO.

"I have managed the folk festival for about 15 years. It requires 14 hours of mixing a day so reliability is key, which is why we have always used A&H mixers," comments Dave Hodge, director and engineer at SoundandLight.co.nz. "Due to the fabulous recall ability, we just use the compact QU-32 at FOH and monitors. Set up is so easy with scene recall for each band, song, individual instrument, and even a 'just in case' scenario, as acoustic groups often bring

New Rules Please - New rules have been announced for the Eurovision Song Contest in the biggest change to voting since 1975. In previous years each country's jury and public votes were combined and announced in one go. Now the votes will be split with each country's jury vote cast first, and votes from viewers in all countries combined and announced at the end. Organisers say this will create a "dramatic finish" as the winner will only be revealed at the very end. In previous years the winner has been known for up to 20 minutes before the end of voting. "This format change will inject a new level of excitement into the finish of the Eurovision Song Contest," said Martin Osterdahl, executive producer for this year's show.

UK - Large, open spaces, hard walls and high ceilings make it difficult to amplify speech effectively in historic church buildings. To ensure that sermons and other spoken elements of the service are crystal clear, without impacting on sightlines or the appearance of the building, one Birmingham church has deployed innovative d&b loudspeaker technologies.

As light streams in through stained glass windows it can transform the appearance of floors and walls. So often made from stone or brick, these imposing slabs tend to be enclosed by an exceptionally high ceiling, which invites people to look upwards. Visually, the result can create a sense of spiritual occasion and wonder.

While pleasing to the eye, these physical characteristics can make churches less engaging from an acoustic point of view. A large open area with hard surfaces will always result in the same problem: mul

Following the huge success of KV2 Audio and Orbital Sound's collaboration on 2015's Dance 'til Dawn West End production and tour it was without hesitation that KV2's products were specified for Vincent Simone & Flavia Cacace's follow up production - Last Tango.

The Strictly Come Dancing superstars have created their most moving production yet as they prepare to dance in their final ever theatre tour.

Having experienced positive results on Dance 'til Dawn the decision to continue using KV2 Audio's EX range was taken.

The main FOH system was based around the two-way EX 12 12" loudspeaker using a large format NVPD 3" compression driver - the same component used in KV2's flagship VHD range of large format true point source system.

Low frequency reinforcement is also handled by subwoofers from the EX range. Several EX 2.2 1000W 2x12" bass modules an

Germany - At the recent ISE show, Shure introduced two-channel, physically compact versions of the charging and routing hardware in the Microflex Wireless range.

Launched in 2013, the versatile and scalable MXW Systems range of wireless microphones and supporting hardware have become a popular solution for managed AV Conferencing in large corporate boardrooms, multi-room environments and networked campuses.

Shure is adding to the range the MXWAPT2 - a two-channel version of the Access Point Transceiver, or wireless mic routing hardware - and the MXWNCS2, a two-channel version of the existing four- and eight-channel networked charging stations. The compact dimensions of both units extend the use of Microflex Wireless to even smaller-scale installations than before, for example in compact strategy planning and 'huddle' rooms. Europe - Genelec has announced that its popular 4000 Series loudspeakers are now available as part of the BIMobject library. This move allows AV designers and architects to include the Genelec loudspeakers in any building information model to help in the design and planning stages of a project. Users will now be able to add the loudspeakers into digitally built models in building design software such as Autodesk Revit, ArchiCAD and Google Sketchup.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a means by which everyone can understand a building through the use of a digital model. By modelling an asset in digital form, it enables those who interact with the building to optimize their actions.

BIM is rapidly becoming an important part of the planning and execution of construction projects. As a result of this new deal, Genelec's 4010, 4020, 4030 and 4040 loudspeakers can be seamle
