USA - Community Professional Loudspeakers is launching its new line of Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers (ALC) at InfoComm 2019.
The new Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers are designed to provide all of the signal routing, zone switching, DSP processing, protective limiting, remote monitoring, and amplification functions needed between a mixer and the loudspeakers in virtually any Community loudspeaker application.
Standard Ethernet communication protocols allow for fast system design, system control, and remote system monitoring. Analogue and Dante inputs included in each model are assignable per channel in static or failover/backup configuration, supporting quick and easy integration into any new or existing system.

USA - Yamaha is launching new products for the installed and live audio industries at InfoComm 2019.
The new PC Series D and DI models are a new kind of power amplifier, featuring state-of-the-art signal processing, Dante audio networking and a 20 x 8 input matrix. The matrix means that sound from analogue or Dante inputs can be output via Dante to another amplifier, after adjusting using the onboard processors, greatly enhancing the flexibility and scalability of the system.
There is a choice of standard (D) or installation (DI) version, both available with a power output of 600W or 1200W (8Ω) and delivering stable operation at a high load of 2Ω. The DI models can handle high-impedance connections, allowing them to drive multiple speakers from a single channel.

Belgium - Last summer, event design and production company John & Jane made its first investment in Astera AX1 Pixel Tubes.
At the time, the company was designing a lighting scheme and providing production for a Brussels Airlines event being staged in an old townhouse, and specifically sought a light source which could be used abstractly to highlight areas of the building. Initially, they purchased AX1s for illuminating a staircase, but ended up buying more from Benelux distributor Controllux, which were used on the floor - in the style of plane emergency lighting.
The long battery life, consistent brightness and easy set-up and use are all reasons attracting them to Astera.
The Pixel Tubes are now working constantly, claims the company. The fixtures are used to light gardens, fountains buildings - interiors and exteriors - main event rooms and spaces, corrid

UK - The Institute of Acoustics (IOA) has installed Shure Microflex Advance MXA910 microphone to complement a Voice Lift system at the organisation’s Milton Keynes headquarters.
This has helped to restore the natural speech level for far-end participants within a space used as both a meeting room and a classroom for attendees participating in courses involving working within acoustics.
Students undertaking courses now benefit from clear speech across the space, while those collaborating online via distance learning are delivered the same audio as their classroom counterparts, with the system raising the quality of the captured content.
The client brief consisted of a system that was hands free and could be permanently installed in a room with the ability to be divided as necessary and with multiple furniture layouts.

UK - Room 2, Glasgow’s new events space, is embracing the city’s rich and diverse creative culture with a forward-thinking approach to sound. The basement venue, which is located in the heart of Scotland’s largest city, is home to a Funktion-One sound system.
Supplied and installed by Steedsy.Com Audio, the system has been tuned by John Newsham - co-founder of the loudspeaker manufacturer.
“We intend to utilise Room 2 outside of the nightclub sphere,” explains owner Dario Bernardi. “It’s a venue which has the capability to host everything from concerts and club nights to daytime events and is suited to being used as an arts space.
“We use Funktion-One across all of our venues. Of course, the sound quality comes first - with the right tuning and amps it’s unrivalled in a club setting as far as we’re concerned. When we first experienced the sy

USA - The VLZ Profile luminaire, from Vari-Lite’s latest generation of LED moving head fixtures features on Plan B Entertainment’s US touring production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita. Specified by lighting designer Chad Bonaker, the fixture’s size, brightness, zoom and effects package combined to meet the designer’s every need.
Bonaker, faced with the familiar touring theatre challenges of limited truck space and short load-in times, knew he had to ask a lot from his lighting fixtures. “The lighting package needed to be very compact,” he says. “And, with quite a few one-off tour dates, we wanted to limit the number of fixtures to be loaded in and refocused from venue to venue.”
With the fixture count necessarily at a minimum, maximum versatility was essential. “Every light in the air had to pull its weight in multiple roles,”

FrancePerseo-S, Ayrton's latest compact LED moving head, is now shipping.
The lumianire, which was unveiled at Prolight+Sound 2019 in April, is suitable for a broad range of indoor and outdoor applications thanks to its IP65 rating, light weight and 27,000lm output from a 500W LED source (calibrated at 8000K).
Perseo-S boasts a subtractive CMY colour mixing system, a variable CTO and a wheel with six complementary colours that combine to produce "an infinite palette of vivid pastels and saturated colours". The fixture has a zoom range of 7° - 56°, no hotspot, and an improvement from distortion at wide angles.
The framing section allows accurate positioning of four shutter blades on a 100% surface area in all positions, so that the user can frame any object regardless of the luminaire’s position. The image section

Ulvaeus also spoke about the band's new music, confirming they had finished new songs, but would not give away any details about when they might be released. "There will be a new song, a couple of new songs coming. But I've been saying this for such a long time. I'm not saying when any more. I'm just saying we have them and they will be released eventually."

PRZM, designed to facilitate the remote placement of wireless audio antennas beyond 200ft, is ideal for live production as well as installed sound applications. As it is controlled via software, it allows the user to easily monitor status and adjust attenuation.
“As the RF available for production purposes continues to shrink, it becomes more important than ever to be able to create remote antenna systems that can cover large areas,” says Jimmy Van Winkle, general manager for Professional Wireless Systems. “The conversion and subsequent distribution of RF over fibre ensures that the signal is pure with no degradation of quality in order to have a seamless

UK - Allen & Heath has released Custom Control, a customisable cross-platform control app that offers bespoke control over the dLive installed audio systems.
Integrators can now freely design multiple user interfaces for systems built on the dLive engine, tailored to different user levels and/or device types. For example, a bartender can be presented with a simple phone interface, while the AV operator can access uncluttered levels and routing on their tablet, but more comprehensive control when using their laptop.
The design of the app interface is via Custom Control editor software for Windows and Mac OS. Access to all levels, mutes and sends is provided, together with preset recall, source selection and metering. Tabs can be configured for easy access to multiple control pages or zones. USA - Ever since Dropkick Murphys burst on the music scene in the late ’90s, bold, colourful backdrops have been almost as much a part of their show as their music.
This year, the band added a new twist to their stage presence by having five separate sections of drops that were revealed in stages. Accenting the unveiling of each section, while also furnishing an endless stream of bright and colourful looks to support the band’s thunderous performance, was a Jeff Maker lighting design that featured 17 Chauvet Professional Rogue R2 Wash fixtures, supplied by JRLX, Inc.
