UK - Alto has increased its PA speaker range with the launch of the new ELV series, reports UK distributor Proel (International). The ELV range builds on Alto's policy of using European design know-how coupled to Chinese mass-production ability.

All the ELV models are housed in wood enclosures and are fully black carpet covered to offer enduring on-stage looks, plus maximum sound quality.

The range begins with the 10" woofer plus 1" compression driver equipped ELV 10, which will handle 200 Watts. Succeeding models (there are 12 in all) include both active and passive versions in a variety of speaker configurations, using 12" and 15" drivers. Top of the passive series is the ELV 15, which uses a 15" woofer, 1" compression driver, will handle 500 Watt

UK - Stardraw.com has announced immediate availability of the release version of its award-winning application, Stardraw Control. The company reports that over 2400 systems specialists took part in the beta test phase prior to this launch, and a great deal of their feedback has been used to enhance and improve Stardraw Control's interface and feature set.

UK - Having made an impact on the live audio scene in the handful of years it has been available in the UK, JTS has now turned its attention to the project, commercial and broadcast studio market with the launch of the JS-1 studio mic.

The JS-1 is a cardioid response, large diaphragm condenser microphone, designed to fulfill a variety of roles. USA - When Sony Pictures Television's Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! leave their respective studios to tape shows, PRG is there, providing substantial gear and support for both productions. During November, both Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune will be airing shows that took place on the road. Jeopardy! taped a college tournament at RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina while Wheel of Fortune taped their shows at the New Orleans Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"Typically, when people think of a show like this coming to their town, I doubt they have any idea how much is involved. We travel with over 100 staff and crew members, and there are usually 14 to 17 trucks of equipment and set," explains FOH engineer and system designer Bill Daly from PRG Audio.

UK - Since Arena Structures' revolutionary TFS was launched in the UK two years ago, it has hosted the most prestigious exhibitions, concerts and conferences, but in a first this Autumn; one TFS took on cathederalesque stature for the Church of Scientology's Annual UK Gala Weekend.

This year's event built on the Church's consistently increasing popularity since its inception in 1954, attracting over 7,000 international guests over the weekend of events to Saint Hill Manor in East Grinstead, including John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Isaac Hayes and Ann Archer. Denmark - Prior to the LDI show in 2001, the 100,000th Martin MAC moving head rolled off the company's production line; the golden embossed luminaire is now prominently displayed at the Martin manufacturing facility in Denmark. It took Martin five years to produce and sell the first 100,000 MACs.

Now, just four years later, the 200,000th MAC, a MAC 700 profile spot, has rolled off the production line in northern Denmark. The company says it is "a testament to Martin's manufacturing facilities, production techniques, and not least, its far reaching and dedicated sales network."

UK - Norfolk-based PA Company, K Tech Music Services, has purchased an Allen & Heath GL2800 multi-purpose live sound console as part of an expansion of the company's hire stock. Operating in the East Anglia region, K Tech manages sound systems for a diverse range of local events from rock festivals to religious groups.

"This was highlighted this summer during a gig with a visiting community gospel choir from Tottenham. Apart from the usual band instruments and vocal inputs, everyone wanted monitors! The desk coped well but I realized we needed a larger desk with more features if we were to keep providing good service," says K Tech's owner, Ken Tarling.

UK - Dennis Fernandez, front-of-house engineer for Stiff Little Fingers is a major fan of Audio-Technica microphones, and has kitted out the band's vocals and virtually the entire backline from the A-T range.

The band has just come off the road after a four-week UK tour, and will be touring Ireland in December, as well as playing a number of gigs across the country. Dennis has worked with SLF for more than four years, and in that time has worked hard with the band to develop engineering and mic techniques to get the very best sound, and capture the full excitement of their performance. Dennis's vocal mic of choice is the Artist Elite AE5400 cardioid condenser, perhaps not what you would immediately expect a singer like Jake Burns to use.

Russia - MC2 Audio recently made its Russian debut with distributor Pro Audio & Light at Music Moscow 2005 held at the Cultural Exhibition Center 'Sokolniki' in Moscow. "We are now in our 21st year of business," says Pro Audio & Light's Sergei Korovin. Italy - Italian lighting manufacturer SGM has introduced Imago-Mediasynth - a new media server which the company says can handle a practically unlimited number of combinations of images, special effects, video sequences and 3D objects, all in real time.

Imago puts 24 layers at the user's disposal, all able to be superimposed in live mode, plus two video layers and an input layer that enables an external feed to be imported with connection to video camera. Manipulation of 3D objects is carried out in real time during shows, by means of a few easy operations, say SGM.

UK - Metropolis AV has supplied its Met3 LED lighting for an installation at the Darli Bar in Warrington to illuminate two glass walls in the newly opened art-house bar. The town centre operation is independently owned by local entrepreneur Paul Bond, who has four other Darli Bars in the area, and contacted Metropolis's David Linger to supply LED lighting.

Bond, who created the look and feel of the café/bar's contemporary interior, already knew that he wanted LED lighting. He'd wanted to do an LED design for some time, seeing the great potential of lighting and colour as a mood enhancer, but was waiting for the fixtures to become cost effective and bright enough to do it properly.

Germany - The Colour Line Arena, Hamburg, and the Congress Centre in Essen have recently taken delivery of new chain hoists from ChainMaster. The Saxon company equipped the two major events centres with BGV-D8plus systems. These versatile chain hoists have a load capacity of 500 kilograms and are equipped with a manual controller with an integrated load display.

ChainMaster also reports that it has expanded the lifting gear in the Weser-Ems Hall in Oldenburg. The BGV-C1 chain hoist system from ChainMaster already in use in the hall has been retro-fitted with 12 drives for loads ranging from 500 to 1,000 kilograms and a controller.

Finally, the Dutch theatre Harmonie Leeuwarden is also relying on lifting gear from ChainMaster. The theatre recently took delivery of 28 BGV-C1 chain hoists with a load capacity of 1,250kg. The installation was performed by BEO of the Netherlands.

UK - For the second consecutive year, Pioneer received the award for 'Most Innovative Technology' at the House Music Awards, held on 17 November 2005 at London's famed Hammersmith Palais. Last year, Pioneer collected the Most Innovative Technology award for the CDJ-1000s series, but this year the genre-splicing DVJ-X1 DVD decks took the award.
