USA - As the exhibition season begins, innovative UK manufacture GDS reports a great start at the first North American PLASA Focus in Austin, Texas.

Chris Patton, GDS International Sales Manager for the Americas met with new and existing customers on the booth at the inaugural PLASA Focus: Austin. The first of its kind for PLASA in North America, the show proved to be a resounding success. The new style event took a different approach to previous regional shows, standardising the size of the booths in order to promote fair competition, to allow more companies to exhibit and attract more visitors.

GDS exhibited a number of products at the show including the acclaimed wireless battery operated LED range LiteWare and the award winning ArcSystem LED auditorium fittings.

Germany - This year's ProLight + Sound exhibition will be a busy affair for Martin Professional with no less than 12 new product introductions including the world premiere launch of a new breed of moving head - the MAC Viper family.

Martin will be highlighting the first members of the new MAC Viper family at Stand A93 in Hall 9. Also on display will be new moving heads in Martin's popular MAC III family, an all-new VC series of creative LED video solutions, new portable lighting controllers in the M-Series, and a new compact hazer in Martin's Jem family.

Germany - Green-GO caused excitement at both PLASA in London and LDI in Orlando where it debuted in 2011, and it is expected to have the same impact this year on the stand of CAST GmbH, in Hall 9, E71 at ProLight+Sound in Frankfurt.

Following their success at PLASA 2011 by winning an Innovation Award, ELC Lighting's Green-GO digital show communications system designer Joost van Eenbergen and sales manager Silvio Cibien went on to win a second award at LDI in Orlando: the LDI 2011 'Best Debuting Product of the Year' award in the sound category.

Germany - Following the strategic partnership set up last year with intercom solutions provider Clear-Com, which saw the launch of the V3R-FX-Intercom and X6R-FX-Intercom, Optocore has taken a further step towards making the Optocore system more flexible with intercom transport by developing a similar network intercom solution for RTS.

The V3R-FX-Intercom for RTS and X6R-FX-Intercom for RTS interfaces are a result of cooperation with the leading intercom manufacturer.

UK - Moonlite Productions has recently purchased a Roland V-1600HD Multi Format Video Switcher and is already using it for the production of all of its high end corporate events. The Bucks based company has over 25 years experience in staging, rigging, sound, lighting and AV - and has been a dedicated user of Roland equipment including the V-440HD Video switcher, and prior to that, a number of Edirol products.

Sharp joined Electrosonic's Edinburgh office in 2005 taking on the position of internal sales support. South Africa - Bryanston Bible Church has become the latest church in a growing list of churches in South Africa to install an HK Audio system.

"We needed to move away from point source audio systems and decided to go with line array technology so that there is consistent audio coverage from front to back," commented Andrew Lester who is the music director at BBC.

The church experimented with various loudspeaker brands before choosing HK Audio. "We also required a system that was exceptionally linear throughout the dynamic range of our church services and found that the Cadis Array system from HK Audio performed the best after several tests with different sound manufacturers," he added. "This coupled with the added value service we experienced from local agents Proaudio, reinforced our decision to choose the Cadis."

UK - Glasgow's Royal Conservatoire of Scotland has installed a Midas PRO6 live audio system in a major refit to its main theatre. The desk was selected after a rigorous evaluation of digital consoles.

"We strive to be the best for teaching all aspects of theatre to our students," says RCS technician Gerrie Victor. "We already have some of the best lighting consoles in the world and wanted to get the same standard for our sound system. We want our students to learn on the best equipment available.

"We tried most of the digital consoles on the market, and after comparing them all, Midas was top of our list. When we realised that we could afford the PRO6, the choice was easy."

The PRO6 is mainly located in the control room of the Conservatoire's main theatre, but can also be moved out into the auditorium or to any of the five venues around the building,

Italy - Jò Campana has been filling a number of roles for Italian rock band Negrita since 1998, among them lighting designer, lighting programmer and operator, set designer, and show concept designer. "I'm a one man band," he says affably.

Negrita has just played the six largest indoor venues in Italy on their Dannato Vivere arena tour beneath a Martin MAC rig that included the new MAC Aura, which provided a powerful surprise.

"I needed to hang some bright, light, small and fast fixtures over the 'breaking glass' trusses and I immediately thought of the Aura," Campana explains. UK - Stage Electrics has been awarded the contract for one of the largest UK installation projects of the year - the Guildhall School of Music & Drama's new £89m Milton Court site in the City of London. The year-long installation project begins this month and the grand opening of the school itself is scheduled for Autumn 2013.

Occupying eight floors at the base of a 36-story skyscraper in Silk Street next to the Barbican, on the site of an old fire station, the project's Foundation Donors, Heron International and the City of London, have contributed a total of £75.5m, with the remainder being covered via a public fundraising campaign.

Turbosound, which has won the Queen's Award for Export Achievement twice in 10 years and is shortlisted for an Innovation Award this year, is part of the 'Made By Britain' project initiative under which MPs champion manufacturing in their constituency.

The aim of the scheme, which is being promoted by the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group, is to demonstrate the diversity and comprehensive nature of contemporary British industry.

Germany - After the success of completely sold-out seminars in 2011, AFMG has published the 2012 schedule of trainings for EASE.

As in the last years, there will be two trainings at AFMG's Berlin headquarters in spring and fall. International dates will take place in Dubai, accompanying the PALM fair and in Wroclaw (Breslau), Poland. Again, these EASE users seminars will be supplemented by a Sound System Design seminar aimed at audio consultants. In 2012 this seminar will cover the topics of digitally steerable loudspeakers as well as audio networks.

Additionally, AFMG will be offering a two-day course for professionals and loudspeaker manufacturers addressing the topic of loudspeaker data acquisition and evaluation with EASE SpeakerLab and its usage for GLL data generation e.g. for line arrays.

UK - Le Maitre is once again delighted to be exhibiting at PLASA Focus: Leeds. On show will be a selection of Le Maitre's smoke, haze and special effects machines, including the newest flame effect - the CometFlame.

The CometFlame, a stadium effect launched in 2011 which produces flames up to 6m high. It fires for five seconds at a time and can be set to fire in high frequency or at preselected intervals. Furthermore, the flame can be set at five different firing angles - 45, 22, 0, 22 and 45 degrees - to create stunning effects.
