USA - British heavy metal band, Bullet For My Valentine (BFMV), recently supported Slipknot on their latest tour, Summer's Last Standing, carrying Allen & Heath mixers to manage FOH and Monitors.

Comprising a GLD-80 at FOH, with an iDR-48 MixRack and iLive-R72 rackmount Control Surface for monitors, BFMV's FOH Engineer, Dave Nutbrown, and monitor engineer, Adam Boole, connected the systems via ACE using a single Cat 5 cable.

"Adam controls the initial levels on iLive, the heartbeat of the system. I'm picking up the digital split on the GLD-80," said Nutbrown.

The Allen & Heath mixers were selected because of the excellent sound quality, reliability and compact size, which make them easy to take out on tour.

Germany - Last weekend, the official celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of the reunification of Germany took place in Frankfurt am Main. In honour of the occasion, a lighting installation designed by Sven Sören Beyer and Björn Hermann illuminated 25 bridges across the Main as part of a spectacular light show on 3 October. For the technical side of things, they relied on products from Clay Paky, an Osram subsidiary.

Beyer and Hermann symbolically built a total of 25 bridges across the Main - taking the number of years since the reunification as his inspiration. Using 240 Mythos spotlights from Clay Paky, which were set up on 50 truss towers on both sides of the Main, they retold the history of the German people. South Africa - Strictly Come Dancing has just concluded its eighth spectacularly successful season on South African screens.

Broadcast on SABC 3 and produced by Rapid Blue, this international format, is produced in nearly 50 countries around the world and sets the ballroom floor alight every week with a sparkling display of dancing and lighting.

The series was lit by Gearhouse's Robert Grobler primarily using a selection of Robe moving and static LED lightsources - nearly 150 in total - all supplied, together with other lighting and rigging elements by Gearhouse South Africa. Strictly SA was recorded at SABC's Renaissance Centre in Auckland Park, Johannesburg.

Robert was keen to continue using mostly LED fixtures, a path he took when lighting the show the previous year. He was given a free rein to create appropriate lighting by the producers based on certain givens, like the

Poland - Aram, one of the biggest Poland-based event engineering company, member of AV Alliance, is the first to take delivery of a large quantity of Air6PIX fixtures from Italian manufacturer Prolights.

The official launch of the $31.6 million development of the waterfront theatre situated under the famous Brooklyn Bridge follows a transformation of the derelict Tobacco Warehouse by Marvel Architects with theatre, acoustics and architectural lighting consultancy by Charcoalblue.

The new St Ann's Warehouse is a 25,000sq.ft site housing two flexible performance spaces. UK - When Dutch singer-songwriter Guus Meeuwis performed at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall in May, on the same stage as stars such as Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Adele, and Eric Clapton, the concert drew approximately 5,000 Dutch fans.

As if the venue weren't spectacular enough, 28 Sunpanels were set up around the band to project visuals and to create a blinder effect. These custom-made visuals served as the background for the band and enhanced the musical experience by adapting to the changing beat and style. The large panels, which featured quick-action couplings, were quick and easy to assemble.

UK - Three successful days in early October saw the PLASA Show bring its three-year stay at London's ExCeL to a close, with the promise of a revamped and reinvigorated event at Olympia for 2016.

New for this year, the innovative zoned layout of PLASA Show 2015 was clearly a success, allowing show visitors to easily find the exhibitors they wanted to visit. In turn, this meant exhibitors enjoyed the attention of high quality visitors throughout the show.

UK - Bristol-based lighting and visual specialists Fineline continued their busy summer / autumn event season supplying lighting, LED screens and rigging to Boomerang Hickstead, a new two day music event staged at the All England Jumping Course and Showground at Hickstead, west Sussex, UK.

With a r line up including Jesse J, the Vamps, Soul II Soul, Simple Minds, the Proclaimers and a host of other popular artists, Fineline worked closely with TAO Productions and event technical production manager Andy Cotton.

Staged in the Ondaatje Theatre lecture hall at the Royal Geographical Society in Kensington, central London, this new concept enabled AGA enthusiasts to embrace and experience activities related to the brand of cast iron cooking ranges. The action included cooking demos, presentations, guest speakers, the history of AGA and numerous other activities.

UK - In the heart of the West-End of London, where the theatre district meets the start of Chinatown, a complex W-DMX system has been installed by Wireless Solution's UK distributor - White Light.

The brief came in by a UK-based lighting consultant. The company was approached by a property management company who is responsible for refurbishing the flats in the Asian district. The request consisted of giving life to Shaftesbury's buildings during night-time, making the district come to life and attract theatre goers and business people in the area.

The project consisted of lighting 11 buildings along 200m, in what is probably one of the most crowded Wi-Fi areas of the city. The use of Wireless was essential to get data across to different blocks of buildings, and to future proof the installation. USA - Philips Entertainment has announced the introduction of two new Showline LED luminaires with the release of the SL Beam 300FX and the SL Punchlite 220.
