UK - One of 5 Star Cases' most recent clients has been the noted London department store, Harrods. 5 Star designed, manufactured and delivered a specially customised DJ 'booth in a box' flightcase for Shock Solutions, who were asked to provide DJ equipment, along with a long-term portable solution for setting-up temporary DJ operating positions on the shop floor for special events. The need was specifically prompted by a new promotion with superclub Ministry of Sound, involving regular DJ appearances in the Menswear department.

The case contains all the DJ kit required for a show - including two Pioneer CDJ-1000s, a DKM800 mixer and rack mountable screens, together with a series of custom connecter panels to integrate with the store's existing Technics 1210 vinyl decks and Bose Lifestyle "monitor" speakers. The latter are now incorporated into the top left and right hand corners of the case. The store also wanted Bose Acoustima subs fitted into the case and 5 Star has designed these into its base.

The case can be quickly and easily wheeled into the required positioned around the store and opened up, offering an instant, highly-specified DJ environment familiar to any visiting DJs.

5 Star's Andy Stockdale undertook most of the design and CAD drawings using their Solid Edge software, which was vital in the process of transforming the paperwork into the case. This was also used to create the cableways inside and all the supporting structures for the kit. At 1792 mm long, 1800 mm deep and 1422 mm high, it's nearly double the size of a normal DJ trunk.
