UK - A.C.'s Lighting and Audio divisions have been appointed the stage equipment suppliers into the new South Bank Arts Centre at Bedford College.

A.C. Lighting's initial introduction to the Arts Centre came after on-site training for Bedford College on an existing WYSIWYG set-up. The £6 million Arts Centre, which is part of a £60 million redevelopment plan for the College, provides students with a bright and inspiring stage for their talents, and brings together all course creative disciplines under one roof.

The new state-of-the-art facility, which officially opened its doors in November, comprises of a fully equipped studio theatre, a TV studio, video and audio control, along with sound recording suites.

Lighting equipment includes Martin MAC 250 Krypton moving lights and 3000 Atomic Strobes, Robert Juliat Buxie followspots and various DTS, ETC and Spotlight conventional fixtures controlled by a Jands Vista T2 console. Chroma-Q Plus colour changers, Jem ZR smoke and haze machines, and power and DMX cables were also supplied.

Audio equipment includes Tannoy full range and sub bass loudspeakers with digital system controller powered by QSC amplifiers, a Mackie TT24 live digital mixing console and custom built looms. A Sanyo PLC-XP57 projector with network options puts the finishing touches to a fully adaptable system.

Bedford College's performing arts/music technology Instructor, Richard Crate, commented: "A.C. Lighting has been extremely helpful and provided invaluable advice on equipment and aspects of the installation throughout the process of setting up our new studio theatre space. Their friendly and helpful staff have been available to assist us from the original conception of the project right through to planning the finer details of the installation and beyond."
