Peter Pan was held in the Marlowe Theatre Arena, a temporary venue, in use until the original theatre re-opens in 2011 as a much larger concern with a new programme of world-class shows. Peak Hire was approached by Theatre Tent to provide a rigging solution for the lighting and sound systems, as well as a track for flying Peter and Wendy above the audience.
The project required a compact, high load, anti-twist truss that would be strong enough to support the weight of the various production rig equipment. As an existing Litec user, Peak Hire decided to supplement their existing stock of Litec QL52A with over 50m supplied by Litec exclusive UK distributor, A.C. Rigging. The truss was used to create a 15m box structure around the main seating area front of stage.
Karl Ashman, managing director of Peak Hire, commented, "The QL52A has an excellent load-bearing capacity and is relatively lightweight. As the truss is an anti-twist version, it can also be used as a tower truss, so it's also very versatile."
Peak Hire also used a 6m circle of Litec QX30S truss supplied by A.C. Rigging, for an annual event at the Cheltenham Town Hall. The truss was used to change the appearance of the event from linear trusses used in previous years. The truss fits with Peak Hire's stock of QX30S truss and Dado cube corners, expanding the possibility to construct bespoke structures to suit various events.
Summarising his experience using Litec truss, Ashman comments, "We are hugely impressed with Litec. As a truss system it is straightforward to use. We also like the range and design features, and hope to add towers to our growing Litec inventory."
