The presentation ceremony will take place at the Young Vic Theatre, where Manim's latest production, A Man of Good Hope is playing. The show is based on the classic novel by Jonny Steinberg and depicts the true story of one refugee's epic quest across Africa, brought to life with music from the world-renowned Isango Ensemble.

The Association extends a very warm invitation to the UK's LDs and lighting industry practitioners in anticipation of many being able to join with Manim to celebrate his career and the art and craft of Lighting. The audience is invited into discussion with Manim, about his life on an international stage, lighting design and his varied career, led by prominent members of the UK lighting design profession.
Although being honoured for his lengthy list of credits in lighting design, Manim has, throughout an exceptional career, been a company manager, producer, technical director, founder, administrator and trustee of many theatre organisations.
Still flourishing in his seventies, Mannie's work started as an usher at the Brooke Theatre, Johannesburg in 1955 and he rose through the ranks from stage hand to managing director of PACT Drama, and created the Doornfontein Arena. Courageously, he and Barney Simon created the world renowned Market Theatre in Johannesburg. Executive director of Baxter and Fugard Theatres in Cape Town, producing and lighting his own productions, his work has been often in South Africa but also extensively seen internationally.
Mannie Manim joins American Lighting designer Jennifer Tipton, who received the first ALD International Fellowship, awarded in 2012.
