Allen & Heath launches portable expander rack
- Details
DX168 features 16 XLR mic inputs and 8 XLR line outputs, and communicates with the dLive system via Allen & Heath’s proprietary 96kHz DX protocol over CAT5e cable, allowing cable runs of up to 100m between the dLive system and the unit.
In Redundant mode, dual cable redundant connections can be made to dLive S Class hardware as well as non-redundant single cable connections to S Class and C Class systems. Alternatively, in Cascade mode (available in upcoming firmware 1.60), up to six DX168 units can be connected to any dLive S Class or dLive C Class system allowing up to 96 remote inputs and 48 remote outputs.
The DX168 comes in a robust stage box format, with hard-wearing rubber bumpers and a carry handle for direct placement on the stage floor. An optional rackmount kit allows the unit to be mounted in a standard 19” rack.
Allen & Heath’s live sound product manager, Ben Morgan, comments: “DX168 makes it easy to add more I/O to any dLive system, and to deploy that I/O where it’s needed most. The rugged design ensures it is capable of standing up to the demands of on-stage use week in and week out, yet retains a lightweight and highly portable form factor that can also be rack mounted to offer maximum flexibility.”
