Working with other Arena Group companies, Arena Scaffolding has already been awarded prestigious contracts to build substructures for the 2006 Ryder Cup at the K Club in Ireland, and will be providing the mile markers for this April's London Marathon. The company has also won a five-year contract for CTV to supply the media and camera towers at sports events throughout Europe.
Scaffolding, whilst not particularly glamorous, is an intrinsic part of the infrastructure of a huge number of modern event sites. Between them Arena Structures, Arena Seating and Arena Scene have a vast range of experience and expertise, which has been distilled to create Arena Scaffolding, providing clients a distinct, focused service.
Notable scaffolding projects undertaken in the past year within the Arena Group have included the installation and maintenance of an incredible 18 miles of scaffolding forming the temporary foundations for the Wembley Arena Pavilion temporary structure, carrying the weight of 10,000 fans, and the scaffolding support for the windsurfing tank at the London Boat Show which supported 2.1 million litres of water.
Arena Scaffolding managing director Grahame Muir said: "We are focusing on a specialist area of an events site that could become very high risk if taken for granted. As event organisers and designers get more creative in their ideas it becomes imperative that this area is carried out safely and efficiently. We now have a team focused on this skill base, ensuring that all drawings and calculations are completed to a high level of planning and accuracy; with a thorough understanding of the engineering and particular requirements required for the events industry, including sporting, television and music events.
