The AV-DI stereo audio-visual active direct box from ARX.
Australia - ARX Systems has released the new AV-DI, the latest addition to its AudiBox range of precision tools, designed to perform essential professional audio functions in an ultra-compact, flexible package. The new AV-DI stereo audio-visual active direct box is ideal for interfacing any consumer stereo audio signal (especially notebook computer sound cards) with the balanced inputs required for professional sound systems.

System interface is via dual RCA or stereo mini-jack inputs and dual balanced XLR outputs. There is a 20dB pad to tame hot signals, plus Phantom or 12V DC power options. Permanent soft audio ground network prevents ground loops starting, providing pristine audio quality, say the company. The AV-DI is housed heavy duty all-steel chassis finished in matt textured powdercoat, with hardwearing epoxy screen printing and slip-resistant rubber pads. Security features include Kensington-type computer lock slot and an optional bracket kit for under-table mounting.

Technical specifications include an unbalanced Input Impedance of 47k ohms on both RCA connectors and mini-jack, a maximum input level of +8dB with pad switch out, + 28dB with pad switch in, gain through unit of 6dB with pad switch out and output noise of -90 dB unweighted, -97dB 'A' weighted, inputs loaded and a frequency response of 20 - 20kHz +/-0.3dB.
