Athens Concert Hall opened in 1991, some 35 years after the Greek government originally donated the site for its construction. The venue is jointly governed by the Athens Concert Hall Organisation, the Friends of Music Society, and the state, and hosts an extensive schedule of musical productions and events.
The two new halls, the 1800-seat Alexandra Triandi Hall and the 400-seat Nikos Skalkotas Hall, were opened at the end of 2003, complete with new sound systems including the Cadac consoles. The J-Type in the Alexandra Triandi Hall can be configured as an 84-input desk for large-scale operatic and classical productions, or separated into a 60-input console with the mobile 24-input sub frame shared between the two Halls.
Telmaco worked closely with the Athens Concert Hall technical team to establish the optimum console specification, with Cadac being selected on the basis of its exceptional audio quality and comprehensive facilities. Both consoles are operated with Cadac's standard-setting Sound Automation Manager (SAM) control software. The sound systems for the two halls were installed by Telmaco during 2002-2003, and commissioned in 2003 and 2004 respectively.
Cadac's J-Type was first launched some 12 years ago, and since 1992, Cadac has maintained a continual investment programme in the J-Type, with an extensive range of input and output modules - enabling users to mix and match between the original modules with the latest programmable/recallable dual input, stereo input and output channels for the precise routing and mix required. This versatility is complemented by the J-Type's matrix, with up to 16 sub and 32 matrix group outputs.
Cadac's Sound Automation Manager (SAM) software is the result of over 20 man-years' development, with the latest release providing integrated support for all Cadac consoles and products, as well as cross-console compatibility and conversion facilities for seamless show portability. SAM incorporates live updates for real-time control of the D16 Digital Mix Matrix and operation of cue-based automation facilities, as well as extensive MIDI control facilities. Available in multi-lingual versions, SAM is available free of charge to interested users via the website below.
