Steve Levitt, director at Productions North explained: "We approached the team at LiteStructures with some sketches, which were a combination of our ideas and those of the girls in the band, and they quickly turned the drawings into CAD designs. We wanted this stage to look very feminine and glamorous and as such LiteStructures manufactured two staircases, one a centre staircase and the other positioned at stage right, is made of eight half-round steps. We also have a big curved ramp that snakes down from stage left to the front of the stage, creating quite a slinky feel."
With years of experience in set design under its belt, LiteStructures is the first point of contact for Production North. Levitt continued: "There are three vital things which we have to consider when designing stage sets, regardless of which band we are doing it for and how big their budget is - the shape of the stage, access to the stage for the performers, and how much space is needed to accommodate dancers or energetic dance routines. We have to make sure the overall look is aesthetically pleasing while also making sure we deal with the wishes of the artist. Fortunately for us, LiteStructures understands the demands of set production, and having worked together for such a long time, there's an element of trust between us. We know that LiteStructures can deliver the goods!"
Levitt is certain that Productions North's successful association with LiteStructures stems from his company's even longer relationship with Chris Bridges, LiteStructures' set design and construction manager. He commented: "Chris is undoubtedly a key element at LiteStructures. Having worked in the business himself, he understands all the problems associated with building a set and then manages the manufacturing problems. Another company which simply manufactures the products wouldn't understand the trials of making a set 'work' and that is integral."
