Microphones donated by Audio-Technica include the classic AT4040 side address large diaphragm condenser, and ATM350 low profile clip on cardioid condenser and ATM650 hypercardioid dynamic models from the new Artist Series. ATM250 dynamic and ATM250DE dual dynamic/ condenser element models are also included from the Artist Series, and U857QL gooseneck condenser mics, featuring the company's UniGuard RFI shielding, are provided for presentation applications. Also donated are ATH-M40fs monitor headphones.
The Charlie Jones Live Room is part of a commemorative scheme that includes scholarships in live sound engineering, and provides a real world training facility for students studying live sound engineering at SSR. The 2000sq.ft training space will feature a full touring sound rig, as well as the staging, rigging, lighting and video systems that comprise the other elements of the modern production environment.
Commenting for Wigwam Acoustics, Chris Hill, praised the support of Audio-Technica and the many other audio companies that have contributed to establishing the training facility: "I have been amazed at the generosity of companies and individuals who have contributed to the training scheme and project, It shows that the industry itself recognises the need for education for the future of our industry."
The Charlie Jones Live Room was inaugurated at an opening party on 1 February, attended by numerous industry professionals and representatives from leading suppliers and manufacturers.
