The Vigil EVAS voice alarm products.
Germany - Baldwin Boxall Communications Limited will be displaying its latest Voice Alarm products and a new range of microphones at this year's ProLight + Sound Exhibition in Frankfurt - the Vigil EVAS, Vigil Eclipse2 and BDM400 networkable range of paging microphones.

Vigil EVAS is a range of DSP controlled voice alarm products and are the latest addition to Baldwin Boxall's expanding product repertoire. The main unit - BVRD2M - is the feature-rich DSP controlled router. Only 1U in height, the BVRD2M has seven audio outputs, eight audio inputs and six flash stored messages. Adding one BVRD2S slave unit increases the number of inputs by twelve and outputs by sixteen. Up to five slave units can be connected to each master - providing 68 inputs, 87 outputs and 30 messages. The EVAS range can provide a decentralised network and up to 128 units can be linked together - creating a voice alarm system for the largest of sites.

The EVAS voice alarm system provides many options and facilities, including a full fault reporting history with real-time clock, front panel encoder for simple programming, update messages or change system configuration via a laptop, remote diagnostics via a modem - to name but a few.

Touchscreen technology can provide full control of the voice alarm system, should it be required. This technology will also be demonstrated on the stand.

Vigil Eclipse2 is a cost-effective wall-mountable voice alarm (or public address) system which has the ability to handle up to seven single or four dual circuit zones. Eclipse2 contains the EVAS at its heart and, as a result, has many features. The new Eclipse2 is smaller than its predecessor measuring only 480mm (W) x 200mm (D) x 680mm (H). Eclipse2 houses one 2U amplifier mainframe providing space for one power supply and two amplifiers from Baldwin Boxall's range of Class D range.

The new look range of BDM400 will also be on display. Black and silver in appearance, the microphones will replace the current BDM300 range with a single zone microphone through to a sixteen zone option. Similar in operation to the BDM300 range, the new microphones have an analogue output signal and serial RS485 zone select using one RJ45 eight-way CAT5 lead enabling simple networking. LEDs on the microphone indicate zone busy, power and data. The monitored versions also feature a fault buzzer which, together with the LED indicator, will alert an operator to a system fault.

In addition to the above products, the well Vigil CommuniCare (disabled refuge communication system), CommuniCare Advance, Vigil AssureCare (emergency call point system) and Vigil FireCare (fire telephone system) products will also be on display. These systems offer the user/installer cabling reductions compared to typical star wired systems as they are both wired as loop configurations and are fully BS5839 part 9 and EN60849 compliant.

Baldwin Boxall staff will be serving a drop of Harvey's real ale at The Plug & Socket - on stand E30 in Hall 8. They will be sharing the stand with their German Distributor - Laauser & Vohl.
