The Awards, which took place 25 January at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, honour accomplishments in diverse fields including law, medicine, business, politics, the Arts, civil rights, sports, entrepreneurship, entertainment and other careers.
The honourees of this year's event were a distinguished crowd including DeVon Franklin, senior vice president of Columbia Tristar Pictures, The Honorable Kamala Harris, Attorney General of California, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, awarding winning producers and song writers, Golden Globe winning actress Alfre Woodard, and Harvard Law professor Charles J. Ogletree Jr.
Lighting designer Mark Carver created an immensely elegant scene using MAC Auras, Chauvet Legend Beams, Pixel Line 48", VL 3000 Spots, VL 3500 Washes, Coemar Parlite LEDs and a Maxedia Media server.
"I try to help convey the tone and uniqueness with the lighting design specific to the event," said Carver of his design process. "I try to hold to vision of the producers while enjoying creativity. This is a very dignified event, so making sure the dignity was upheld while being creative is always a concern."
Carver called the production a "tremendous success," crediting programmers Susan Rose and Aaron Swetland, gaffer Buddy Lunn, project manager Don Lockridge and tech Billy Willingham.
TV One will air the 22nd Annual Trumpet Awards on Easter Sunday, 20 April, 2014.
