Ukraine - This year's Eurovision Song Contest, which too place in Kiev on Saturday, May 21st, showcased some of Barco's latest LED and projection technologies, including the brand-new OLite 510 display and the XLM H25 and R12+ projectors, underlining Barco's technology leadership in the international events industry.

An estimated 400 million viewers worldwide saw a spectacular stage featuring 86 tiles of Barco's brand new OLite 510 LED display technology, 280 ILite 8 LED modules, two Barco XLM H25 projectors, three Barco R18 projectors, two R12+ and three R10 projectors. Barco rental partner, Massteknik, delivered all visualization equipment used on the show.

The star of this year's show is surely Barco's OLite 510: the brand new indoor/outdoor SMD LED display technology, which combines the benefits of indoor and outdoor LED requirements in one reliable, robust LED tile built specifically for the rental and staging industry. With its 5000 Nit light output, 15-bit processing, IP65 rating and full TÛV approval, the OLite 510 is an ultra-bright indoor/outdoor LED display with all the benefits of SMD LED technology, such as wide viewing angles and short viewing distances. At the Eurovision Song Contest, Barco's OLite 510, which can be used as functional screen or 'deconstructed' to smaller modules suitable to creative applications, was integrated into the design of the stage floor and backdrop.

Eurovision project manager, Ola Melzig of Spectra Stage & Events Technologies comments: "Eurovision Song Contest is a complex project which requires the dedication and commitment of many parties to make it happen. Working with industry professionals like Barco and Massteknik makes the process a lot easier. We are very happy with the end result. This will be the most spectacular and technical advanced Eurovision Song Contest ever!"

Massteknik CEO Kenneth Paterson adds: "Massteknik is proud to be the chosen visualization equipment supplier to Eurovision Song Contest. This is a major project that required a huge amount of equipment. Our substantial rental fleet enabled us to deliver what the client required."
