UK - The PLASA08 exhibition, which opened its doors today at Earls Court, London, sees the official unveiling of Polar Audio Ltd - a new name to the audio industry, but the exclusive UK distributor for some of the best known names in the professional audio market.

A statement issued by the company said,"Polar audio is the exciting new face of beyerdynamic GB Ltd and brings to the market an innovative approach to distribution. Beyerdynamic GB Ltd has always been an independent company, not a subsidiary, but as such it has conducted its operation as a distributor very much in the image of beyerdynamic Germany. This of course has had huge advantages, but in many ways it has coloured our image and led to some inaccurate perceptions of who we are as a company today."

The statement continued: "Perception is not always reality, we are no longer a distributor of microphones and headphones only, we are a supplier of Intelligent Audio Solutions adding value to the products which we supply. To meet the demands of our customers we now offer a host of professional services including system design, product integration, project logistics and programming assistance in addition to the marketing and sales of the brands we represent."

"The last five years have seen huge changes, not only in the type of business that we conduct, but also in our core customer base. It is also true to say that the products have changed to meet the ever increasing demands of our customers. Five years ago our core business was based firmly in the MI music retail sector and the Broadcast recording market. Today, although still very important to us, these two sectors account for only 40% of our business. By far our largest and fastest growing segment is the installation market accounting for 60% of our turnover."

"That is not to say that we will be moving away from any of the core markets that have served us so well in the past, Polar audio is a trade-only supplier and as such will continue to work closely with our existing customers to promote sales for the products it distributes. There is also no move away from beyerdynamic as a brand, in fact as the largest independent beyerdynamic distributor we are planning for growth not only in our core markets of MI and Broadcast, but are confident of growing our conferencing and installation business."

Polar audio Ltd is the exclusive UK distributor for ASL, Aviom, Beyerdynamic, Biamp, Blue Sky, Cue, Dynacord, Gallien Krueger, MC2 Audio, Novasonar, Renkus-Heinz, WHD, and XTA.
