Spain - Following a memorable 2024 event, BikeFest Spain is set to return for its fourth consecutive year, inviting cyclists from across the industry to join the 360km ride towards ISE in Barcelona. From 31 January to 2 February 2025, riders will again rally in Valencia, cycling along the Mediterranean coast in support of industry causes.
Last year’s BikeFest raised an impressive £25,000 for Backup Tech, with the goal to surpass that and more this year.
In 2025, BikeFest will expand its support to Casa Caridad Valencia, a local charity assisting those affected by recent severe flooding in Valencia.
Following the reduction of operating costs to run the initiative, 50% of the sponsored funds raised will go directly to Backup Tech, who run initiatives such as Medical Grants, Hardship Grants and Wellbeing Support for industry colleagues in need.
As the industry rebounds from the challenges of recent years, support for these services remains crucial.
The remaining 50% of the sponsored funds raised will be donated to Casa Caridad Valencia to support victims and rebuild after the devastating floods have left thousands homeless.
Organised by PLASA and #WeMakeEvents, BikeFest Spain 2025 is now calling for new riders and sponsors to join this journey for good, which has become an important event for the live AV and events industry.
The three-day route will see riders start in Valencia as normal. The airport, event hotel, and starting point of the ride remain unaffected by the floods.
The riding team will pass scenic Mediterranean towns like Peñiscola and Tarrogona before arriving at ISE in Barcelona, where they will be awarded with a well-deserved medal presentation. Followed by a celebratory dinner, kindly sponsored by AVIXA.
Team members will be provided with meals, accommodation, and support vehicles along the route, with specialist bikes available for hire.
BikeFest has continued to grow each year as an important event that both solidifies existing friendships and forges new connections across the industry, while raising funds for vital causes.
Nicky Greet, Membership, Skills & Technical Director for PLASA and member of the #WeMakeEvents steering group, says: “BikeFest has become an invaluable event for our industry, and this year our mission is even more meaningful.
“The flooding in Valencia has deeply affected many, and we feel compelled to support Casa Caridad in providing relief. We hope to surpass last year’s success to help both Backup Tech and Casa Caridad in their work to support people in crisis.
“This is our chance to make a difference and show up for each other. Please join us to help exceed last year’s fundraising.”
Juan José Vila, CMO and COO of Equipson and leader of #WeMakeEvents Spain, adds: “Seeing the recent devastation in my hometown has been heart-wrenching. Casa Caridad Valencia is doing essential work for those impacted, and we’re proud to support them this year.
“The BikeFest team has proven how resilient our industry is, from riding through challenging conditions to seeing familiar faces return year after year to be part of this cause. I hope everyone will come together once more to support our community and industry – please donate or join us on the road!”
Piers Shepperd, director of Wonder Works, concludes: “BikeFest has always been a fantastic way for the industry to come together to support our colleagues in need. This year, as we expand our support to include Casa Caridad Valencia, it feels especially poignant.
“The funds raised will help provide much-needed relief in the region. The generosity and camaraderie shown by riders and sponsors over the years has been incredible, and I know this year will be no different.
“Together, we can make a real difference to those affected by this tragedy while continuing to support vital wellbeing services within our own industry.”
