Bosch is integrating the former Philips CSI operation with the well-established Bosch Detection Systems business into a single new company called Bosch Security Systems, which now offers the complete product range covering fire and intrusion detection, CCTV, public address, paging and congress systems. The combined operation is being re-located to a new home in the existing Bosch facility in Denham. Bosch will continue to sell and support all the former Philips CSI products under the globally known Bosch brand name, alongside its well-known Detection Systems branded products.
The combined Bosch Security Systems business is headed up by UK MD Joe McCann, previously general manager of Bosch Detection Systems in Slough. “The acquisition of Philips CSI puts Bosch into the ranks of the ‘Top Five’ suppliers of security systems worldwide and positions us for further growth in communications,” said McCann. “It has also brought us a tremendous expertise and well respected product range, which complements our existing strengths in Fire and Intruder Detection. We have many innovative and exciting new products lined up for 2003 all backed up by Bosch’s European-wide standards in security technology and many of these will be launched on our combined stand at IFSEC (a security show which takes place on the 19-22 May 2003 at the NEC, Birmingham).”
The former Philips CSI was a leading supplier of analogue and digital CCTV systems, Public Address and Paging systems, and is a world leader in Congress systems. By taking over the entire operations of Philips CSI worldwide, Bosch Security Systems has also expanded its global presence to over 38 countries in five continents. Bosch also acquired US-based Detection Systems Inc (a leading manufacturer of electronic security equipment with a headcount of 1150 and activities in Western Europe, Australia and China) in 2000 and this company has now been completely integrated, while retaining the name of Detection Systems (DS) as a product brand name.
Bosch Security Systems is part of the worldwide Bosch Group with global sales of some 34 billion euros and 221,000 employees.
