UK / India - Charter has supplied 16 radio mics and engineering support for the Sport Relief Celebrity cricket match in Bombay filmed by the BBC, with just three days notice. The match in aid of Sport Relief, between a UK all-stars team and a Bollywood Megastar 11, required a radio mic on every player on the cricket pitch and contracted a local company to provide the necessary equipment. At the last minute it became clear that that many radio mics could not be made available in the time within the available budget. Tim Hunt, a freelance sound man who has worked with Charter on such programmes as Springwatch knew that Charter were radio mic experts and introduced Kimberley Littlemore, the BBC producer responsible for the programme, to Colin Bowman, audio engineer at Charter Broadcast.

With just three days to spare, Charter set about bringing together the 16 radio mics and sourcing the necessary frequencies, including six spares. Colin Bowman commented: "I think it was our can-do attitude that impressed the BBC the most. Our man on the ground David Handley, audio engineer at Charter Broadcast, kept his cool in very demanding circumstances; even when he turned on the radio rack for the first time and found himself tuned in to the local taxi cab company! This of course is the precise reason we had ensured that we had sourced additional frequencies. We are delighted that the event turned out to be such a great success and wish the Sport Relief continued success in the future."

Following the event Kimberley Littlemore sent the following text to Colin Bowman: "Thank you for all your support in the face of uncertainty. It all went really well in the end. The sound team were tip-top."
