Allestimenti & Co, jointly with the Altair company, used a Clay Paky V.I.P. 1200 to project the name of the renowned artist on the façade of Palazzo Gopcevic, using a 150mm lens and dichroic gobo - the latter essential for providing the precision required with such a large format projection. The exhibition's logo - showing Renoir’s signature - projected at a distance of almost 50 metres, was perfectly clear and bright, making a big impact on the walls of the historic building.
"The projection of the ‘Renoir’ wording" satisfied several purposes," stated Pietro Tondello of Altair, distributor of Clay Paky products for Triveneto, "To give an original welcome to the thousands of visitors from every corner of the world, draw their attention and guide them inside the building. Not only that, we wanted to show how technology - lighting in this case - can provide a fundamental contribution to promote and beautify our cities, without using enormous panels which often hide and even spoil historic palaces and public places, as well as creating some serious positioning and installation problems.
Mariella Corzani of Allestimenti & Co, echoed his words. She was in charge of fitting up the exhibition and using the projector outdoors. "V.I.P. 1200 solved all problems linked to the fact that no fixed structure could be installed on the façade of Palazzo Gopcevic, as the building is part of the Italian state's Cultural Property. Use of luminous projections is fairly new for events decoration, and offers highly versatile possibilities, which we are looking to repeat in the future. For example, with V.I.P. 1200 you can promote, signal, and inform in an elegant, practical and economic way, and, when the event closes, all you have to do is switch off the projector. But you can use it again whenever you have to project a brand, words, or a picture," - the only additional production cost being a new gobo.
