The Coliseum Tallahassee elected to keep the sound in the D.A.S. family
USA - Whether it's a special celebration event, a night filled with a DJ's pulsating sounds, performances by local or regional acts, or just a great place to enjoy one another's company with some good eatin', the Coliseum Tallahassee is the place to be when in Florida's capital city.

Based upon a positive experience with their previous D.A.S. Audio sound reinforcement (SR) system, the Coliseum Tallahassee elected to keep the sound in the D.A.S. family when it came time to upgrade to a larger setup. These days, the popular night spot is the proud owner of a system based upon D.A.S. Audio's flagship line array system: the Aero 40A.

Tallahassee, FL-based Ultimate Sound and Light was contracted to design and deploy the Coliseum's new SR system. Pete Barbaree, the person responsible for the D.A.S. Audio system's sale, design, and installation, elected to deploy a setup that included D.A.S. Aero 40A powered, three-way line array elements and D.A.S. LX-218A powered subwoofers plus a D.A.S.net I/O panel for system management. Further, D.A.S. Audio Avant 118A powered horn-bass enclosures and Aero 12A 2-way, powered line array enclosures provide monitoring facilities. He discussed the nature of the project.

"The club's previous sound system setup was based on D.A.S. Aero 12A line arrays, which they outgrew," Barbaree explained. "They required a setup with greater output capability and wanted similar, if not better, audio quality, which they had come to appreciate with their D.A.S. equipment. After hearing a demo of the Aero 40A line arrays in their space, they opted to stay within the D.A.S. Aero Series 2 family of products.

"The main space inside the Coliseum is roughly 8,000sq.ft ," Barbaree reports. "The area measures 80ft wide by 100ft deep. Both the stage and the DJ booth are located at the rear of the room-facing the main entrance. The new setup involves twelve D.A.S. Aero 40A line array modules-six each for the left and right hangs. There are 10 LX-218A subwoofers that are positioned in five stacks of two enclosures each. These enclosures are recessed underneath and evenly distributed across the front center of the stage area. For monitoring, there are two Avant 118A enclosures along with six Aero 12A line array modules."

With a variety of high profile entertainment acts coming through the Coliseum, quality customer and technical support services were deemed essential for any equipment supplier. Here too, Barbaree reports D.A.S. Audio has been first rate. "Since day one," he said, "D.A.S. has provided excellent support via their well trained and personable staff-not to mention their rock-solid product line that sells itself. Carlos Henao, the U.S. accounts manager who served as our contact on this project, has always been there for us, ready to help."
