The official opening of the headquarters of the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife took place back in 1905, in an art nouveau building, designed by architect Mariano Estanga, situated in the faƧade of the Castillo de Pedro. The Club was reopened after the Spanish Civil War during the celebration of the 1941 May festivities on the island. At that early stage the building hosted bathrooms, a swimming pool, dressing rooms, a terrace bar, a restaurant, a dinning room, an entrance hall, wardrobes, offices and a meeting room. The original design included a Party Hall, a multi-purpose venue which was completed just recently thanks to the generosity of 50 members who granted their club membership fees in advance for the next six years.
It is precisely in this social hall with a capacity of 400 people where Oscar Molowny installed a fixed sound system, which has replaced the former portable system also made up of D.A.S. products. Molowny employed 28 CL-8T, ceiling loudspeakers which are equipped with a line transformer. Along with the flush mount CL-8T ceiling speakers, 10 Reference series RF-8 boxes as well as eight Sub-18 low frequency systems were also installed to provide a PA systems capable of providing adequate coverage and sound pressure in larger events. All of the systems are powered by E-8, Energy series amplifiers from D.A.S.
The sound system is capable of providing a well balanced background music system as well as a PA system suitable for any type of event, such as a conference, a celebration, or a dance. As Oscar Molowny says: "We needed a high performance equipment capable of covering any event that could took place at such an important venue such as the Royal Nautical Club."
