First renovated in 2001, the main hall, Zhongzheng Auditorium, seats over 1,000 people and these days it serves mostly as a venue for cultural performances. In 2012, the building decided to upgrade its sound system, using d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers. With help from system integrator WeiShin Co., Ltd, co-designers Alex Poon (d&b China) and audio consultant Mr. Liu of Topsound Co., Ltd, the team created a solution using Q and E-Series elements from the d&b range to fulfil the exacting requirements of the Zhongshan Hall's management.
"We selected d&b's dedicated installation Qi-Series loudspeakers for the main system," explained Poon. "Qi is ideal for theatres and venues such as Zhongzheng Auditorium. The sound produced is rich full spectrum; can achieve high sound pressure levels and considering its relative size and light weight, has all the character of a much larger PA."
The Zhongshan Hall design comprises Qi1/Qi7 loudspeakers for main line array, with E6 as front-fills. Completing the system d&b MAX12s were included for stage monitoring. All loudspeakers are powered by the d&b D6 and D12 amplifiers.
