dAFTdATA's patented mDMX system works by modulating the DMX data over the mains power cable - removing the need for data cabling - providing a competitively priced multi purpose solution. The system, which won a PLASA 2006 Award for Innovation, can now be configured to work either as a DMX to Ethernet convertor, or a DMX to mDMX convertor.
Each unit works as a transceiver, and so can be either an encoder from DMX to Ethernet/mDMX or a decoder from Ethernet/mDMX back to DMX. In Ethernet mode the system works with either ARTNET or WENDI protocols. In mDMX mode, a network of multiple nodes up to 400m away can be set up extremely simply. mDMX is now available in a green annodised aluminium housing and has an RRP of £400 or 675 Euros a unit.
Accompanying mDMX, dAFTdATA has released their own branded eDMX end-user product. Designed around the system created for lighting control on the London Eye five years ago, the system is compatible with many other WiFi based systems on the market. Housed in a blue aluminium housing, eDMX, which is a tranciever as standard (each node can send or receive DMX wirelessly) comes at a RRP of £250 or 375 Euro a unit.
Working with mains distribution company GSL, and Amptown, who manufacture flight-cases, dAFTdATA is launching its new offerings from Amptown's stand at SIEL, L27.
Both products will be available from the website from the end of February.
