dBS Music’s Sam Edwards with a brace of the company’s Allen & Heath Qu digital mixers
UK - Cheshire-based sound and lighting rental specialists dBS Solutions recently invested in several Allen & Heath Qu Series mixers, specifically to cater to a growing need for compact touring mixers.

The Qu's blend of power and portability has made it a popular choice with dBS Solutions' clients already, including international touring productions of James And The Giant Peach and Red Riding Hood The Musical. Key to the requirements of both productions was a 'fly-able' mixing solution of under 30kg - dBS delivered with a Qu-16 partnered with an iPad Mini and MacBook for a compact, reliable and easy-to-use theatre system.

Of the set-up, dBS Solutions' Chris Bogg said, "The Qu-based systems have been great for us. The Qu's USB streaming and MIDI-over-USB is very useful and combined with a Mac laptop, the whole rig can fit in a Peli case to go in an aircraft hold. It makes it a very flexible, simple and economical option for smaller touring musicals while still offering great functionality and control."
