The O2 arena hosts over 200 events a year

UK - The O2 has appointed digiLED as official LED OOH screen supplier. The announcement follows a multitude of successful LED screen installations at the venue, spearheaded by the new super-sized LED screen in the main entrance, which went live in early March. Measuring approximately 192sq.m, it will be the largest standalone screen at the venue. Additionally, two other LED installations are set to follow, the larger of these being a high-resolution replacement for the existing outdoor cylinder screen.

digiLED has supplied multiple LED screens to The O2 over the years, most recently a new screen installed in the Entertainment District. Further installations include the upgrade of the arena’s mid-tier LED banner system – delivering brighter, more energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable performance.

"We were chosen as the LED screen partner because of our cutting-edge technology, extensive experience in delivering high-quality installations for major arenas and venues worldwide, and our commitment to sustainability," says digiLED COO, Guy Horrigan. "We take pride in not just innovating with every project but also finding ways to reuse infrastructure whenever possible. Our expertise in supply chain management allows us to provide scalable, energy-efficient solutions that meet the evolving needs of iconic venues like The O2.”

“We take great pride in being an industry-leading innovative venue, so establishing digiLED as an official LED screen supplier to the venue is the perfect solution to bring high-quality, energy-efficient LED screens that seamlessly complement our venue,” explains Stuart Edwards, technology director at The O2. “digiLED have a number of innovative solutions they’ve provided to us, all of which have significantly enhanced the overall digital experience at The O2.”

“Having worked with The O2 for some time, we’ve built a strong relationship with the team there, based on our continual development of new technology, short response times and being on the end of the phone whenever they need us,” says Tom Mudd, head of technical at digiLED, whose association with the venue dates back to its opening when he served as its broadcast manager (prior to working with digiLED).

“The venue has been by far our best digiLED Zeus customer. In fact, they were instrumental in the first prototyping of our digiLED Zeus technology, which cuts the screen’s power to zero when not in use. Their willingness to push the envelope has resulted in five new screens across the venue in the latest round of installations – each one equipped with digiLED Zeus.”

Horrigan adds: “Our experience in delivering award-winning technology for major global venues has been crucial in ensuring that the upgraded screens are of the highest standard. Beyond installation, we offer ongoing support, with a strong focus on aftercare and lifetime management. This partnership is built on trust, responsiveness, and a shared commitment to sustainability.”

digiLED Zeus also delivers added safety benefits. “In the unlikely event of a fire, one of the things that often happens is that energy still flows into the screen, which is super-dangerous for anyone attending such an incident,” notes Mudd. “Uniquely, digiLED Zeus is equipped with a pyro-safety-switch that automatically stops the energy flowing into the device in such circumstances, making it much safer.”

As part of its ongoing mission to provide sustainable, high-performance LED solutions, digiLED aims to continue innovating in energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.
