Prior to joining Lightning Strikes, Heffelfinger founded and served as chief technical officer of Gray Wolf Laboratories LLC, an imaging technology company in the environmental monitoring industry. He has held many executive-level engineering positions within life science companies including Alpha Innotech Corporation, BD Biosciences, and Bio-Rad Laboratories. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Physics from Wayne State University and an Executive MBA from Saint Mary's College, and holds 27 US and international patents in the fields of imaging, optics, bio-systems and instrumentation.
