The first of these is the newly refurbished Odeon in Leicester. Built as a cinema in the 1940's the decaying Art Deco interior has been lovingly restored to its former glory and the tiered seating replaced by six raised balconies enabling the venue to be used as a true multipurpose venue. The sound and lighting installation has been undertaken by Impact Sound and Light and masterminded by installation stalwart Jason Lee. Lee chose Ethos VA array to cover front of house duties with six boxes flown per side and three B2 bass and two SB2 subs per side.
Lee commented: "the array manages to deliver crystal clear vocal from the dance floor up to the top balcony, a throw of over 30m and is equally at home on both live and playback music. When you look at the size of the system and then hear what it is doing it doesn't equate it is surreal." The venue is networked with BSS Soundweb with ancillary areas benefiting from Logic IS series cabinets. Amplification is provided by MC2. The venue opens for business in February with its first engagement being a visit from a member of the Royal Family.
