Hot-foot from its recent project at the Dorchester Hotel, CGA has altered the identity of the Cinema's ground-floor, transforming the lobby into a cool bar seating area with the installation of an Electro-Voice sound system, using four wall-mounted EV S-40 ultracompact compact monitors together with a 50" plasma screen.
The space has been re-designed to include a cyc-type wall, new lighting, and shocking pink and orange furnishings. Says Chris Gunton of CGA, "even given the hot colours, it's a square design so I chose Electro-Voice's square S-40 cabinet, which sounded much warmer than alternative choices, just right for a location which has to be flexible, comfortable for audiences which come to see James Bond and those which come to Mother-and-Baby screenings."
Source material comes from a H/D player which feeds all areas of the Cinema complex, and although content is pre-programmed, there is local control for staff behind the bar. Upstairs at the Everyman, a private lounge has so far failed to live up to its potential. Capable of hosting a film screening for up to 20 people, the Upper Lounge has been redesigned as a nifty corporate or private suite with extensive functionality.
A 95" interactive white board has been installed, together with a touch-panel control system that allows every element of this multi-faceted room to be custom-programmed - video projector, DVD player, Freeview TV, lights, audio, even the motorised blackout blinds. Naturally, CGA has allowed for laptop capability within the infrastructure, making it ideal for business presentations. In the heart of one of London's wealthiest villages, this is a rare find.
