100 units of the newly-announced VARI*LITE VL500 wash luminaire, the updated version of the classic VL5, will be delivered to Flashlight's Utrecht headquarters. Commercial director Jacco van Pel told LSI: "We already had the complete VARI*LITE product range in our rental stock, but there was a hole where the VL5 used to be. Lighting designers loved it and we've talked to VARI*LITE a lot about for the past two years, so needless to say we're absolutely delighted that the VL500 is here and that we can offer it to our rental clients."
100 of Xilver's brand-new Xolar LT LED strip light, also launched at PLASA, have been ordered. Flashlight and Metam were closely involved in the product's development and van Pel says: "We had a strong demand for an LED strip light that could be used for touring and TV, that was a proper lighting instrument rather than a decor type light and which produces a powerful beam instead of a wide wash. The Xolar meets all those needs brilliantly." Flashlight and Metam now hold the complete Xilver range of LED products.
The trio was completed by a "substantial" order for the new Syncrolite XB5-2 fully automated high power Xenon spotlight. They complement the first delivery which have already gone on the road with Coldplay.
Van Pel adds: "2005 has already been a great year for us and it's great to be able come to PLASA and place serious orders for some of the best new products on the market."
