Lighting designer Mikki Kunttu says: "When we first began planning for Eurovision in Helsinki, one of the first products we brought into discussions was FogScreen projection screen. Production manager Ola Melzig had already earlier been interested to bring FogScreen projection screen in to the show. But this year we did, I mean, how can you do a Eurovision in Finland without a FogScreen projection screen? It is, after all, a Finnish product!"
"Finland's host broadcaster YLE loved the idea and we called in FogScreen, Inc. personnel to find the best way to use the product during the show, " he continues. "It was decided that the opening of the Finals with Lordi was absolutely perfect. We used the FogScreen projection screen to show visual effects that the camera could actually float right through. It looked absolutely fantastic!"
Mika Koivula, CEO of FogScreen, says: "Eurovision Song Contest is the world's longest running song competition. The production of this live television broadcast to over 200 million viewers requires state-of-the-art lighting and video. That is why we are extremely honoured that FogScreen projection screen was chosen for the opening act, playing significant role in the whole show. The Eurovision Song Contest is the largest live-stage event that we have so far had the privilege to participate in and is certainly among the most memorable ones for our company."
FogScreen projection screen produces a thin curtain of dry fog that serves as a translucent projection screen, displaying images that literally float in the air. FogScreen projection screen uses ordinary tap water and does not contain any chemicals.
