Denon's parent company D&M Professional Europe confirmed the exclusive agreement with Stefan Farrugia's company at September's PLASA Show after the importer had placed an order for a quantity of professional CD players.
Futuretech have wasted no time in introducing the new DN-S3500 to some of the island's leading DJ's, such as house specialist Carl Bee, Darren Vandit, DJ J Joy and Stefan's brother Josef.
Joy has immediately been signed up to a two-year sponsorship with Denon, initiating the S3500 decks during a four-hour Christmas Eve marathon, Joy Xmas, at Tattinger's Club in Rabat.
"I decided to choose J Joy cause he is the leading DJ in Malta and at the same time a real showman who draws a great crowd," says Farrugia. The artist, who aside from his many awards and high profile club residencies, is also a regular on MTV Europe, will be working off a pair of DN-S3500 CD players, a DN-X1500 mixer and DN-HP1000 headphones.
Futuretech have slowly been converting the island's venues to Denon since setting up in 1996. Over the past ten years they have become a major importer of pro audio equipment and can today boast a huge portfolio of dance venue installations.
Venues such as Sugar Shake and Moskito (each with a pair of DN-S3000) and The Edge (a pair of DN-S1000) are already confirmed Denon DJ houses, while Farrugia has now confirmed the first installation in Malta of the new DN-S3500 players, at Silk.
"In my opinion Denon DJ products are the finest in the market," he states. "I like the reliability and the price, while the DJ's recognise that Denon players have top features that no other company has - such as the alpha track on the DN-S5000; these are constantly upgradable through software."
