UK - FX Rentals has announced a continuing investment in new equipment for its hire inventory. The new additions range from a RADAR V Nyquist 24 track hard disc recording system and Neve 2252 compressors through to backline and MI gear.

A recent welcome addition to live performance and recording is Aviom's A1611 16-channel personal monitor system which provides each musician with their own small mixer with level, pan and EQ control, linked with CAT5 network cables. FX first hired this out as part of a temporary studio installation for Franz Ferdinand's forthcoming album. "The Aviom's A16 was very well received by both the band and engineers," says FX technical manager Adam Pope. "The monitor mixers need only be connected by single network cable, so they could be located wherever required in the house."

The A16 is now out on an extended hire in France with Muse, once again in a temporary recording setup. FX Rentals is also anticipating the Aviom A16 will be in great demand to its growing live sound client base as its work in the live showcase and PA market increases.

Also new is the RADAR V Nyquist hard disc recorder, which can record a full 24 tracks up to 192KHz, (analogue i/p up to 96KHz) direct to disc with BWAVs, allowing data to be entered directly into ProTools without having to convert the format. Sticking with recorders, FX's new Digidesign Digi 002 is a FireWire-based ProTools LE-based music production system.

Other pro audio gear which has been added to FX's inventory includes a Digidesign D-Command controller, Neve 2252 compressors, PRISM ADA8-XR A/D and D/A converters, Dolby DP564 multi-format decoders and 585 pitch correctors, Pioneer PRV-LX10 DVD recorder with authoring facilities, Kramer SP-11D video processors, Alesis Fireport Adapters which connect Alesis HD24 drives to a computer via firewire, Tascam CDRW2000 CD burners, Mutec iCLOCK synchronisable, high precision clock synthesisers, and a VDC 40m 24-way stage box.

"FX has continued to develop markets outside its traditional recording roots," says company chairman Roger Evan. "We have seen considerable growth in the areas of live sound, broadcast and post production, and our continued investment in equipment reflects the wide spectrum of clients we serve."
