Greece - One of the best-known nightclubs in Greece, the 7,000 capacity Galea Club, in the seaside area of Voula Attikis, Athens, has just enjoyed a full renovation. This included a serious update of its primary sound systems, which now comprise EAW and RCF loudspeakers that are exclusively Lab.gruppen driven.

The Galea Club is unique in being both a mainstream, year-round venue catering to the local crowd, and one of the must popular summer places to where sun worshippers flock in their many thousands. This puts a lot of pressure on the venue, and especially the sound system that must operate faultlessly 24/7. The Galea combines vigorous dance floor action with a lounge esthetic. And the club mixes an ultra-modern atmosphere with gourmet dishes in the luxurious restaurant it incorporates. The principal of PAVD, the designers and installers of the sound and lighting systems, Mr. Theodosis Paraskevakis, says that he chose to employ the Lab.gruppen amplifiers "as they are well known to be the most reliable solution when it comes to such high expectations and requirements. And I have been proved to be absolutely right in my design, as the amplifiers have provided faultless service."

The club's owners knew at the outset that sound and lighting would be paramount in ensuring the venue's continuing success. The systems had previously been rented so the change to permanent installation represented a heavy commitment. The owners desire was to not merely invest for a quick return, but for long into the future. "Hence," says Yiannis Souzoukis, the installation manager of PAVD, "the equipment installed had to be so strong and reliable - the best! We are very happy with our choices as the sound system installed has already proven to be absolutely successful and also what is very important is that it still has so much potential."

The main system drive rack is impressive. Twelve, 4-channel Lab.gruppen FP+ Series FP 10000Qs comprise the bulk of the amplification for the primary dance floor systems. Each FP 10000Q provides a massive 4 x 2500 watts into 2 ohms. In addition four, classic 4-channel fP Series fP 2400Q amplifiers provide monitoring and three, 4-channel C Series C 68:4 1700 watt per channel into 4 ohms amps power the peripheral sound.

All audio equipment for the installations was supplied by Eurosound S.A.. Established in 1989 in Thessaloniki, Greece, Eurosound is a wholesale distributor majoring in professional sound and lighting systems. They exclusively represent EAW, Mackie, RCF, Lab.gruppen, SGM, Ashly and JBN in Greece.
