"This year, Xerox and the EMCC were looking to do something completely different and less corporate, whilst maintaining the Xerox Corporate Brand and the ability to use their standard PowerPoint presentation content," said Hawthorn's project manager, Oliver Moores.
The Hawthorn solution in the main auditorium was to provide a 24m x 7m cyc white backdrop as a massive projection screen, utilising a triple projection system driven by Barco's encore system. This gave the ability to use many creative and interesting backgrounds, both static and animated, with an infinite number of options for display of content, all of which allowed incorporation of the Xerox brand.
A clean looking stage set up with two high semi circular platforms with lecterns at each end for the formal presentations was created, with a lower runway connecting the platforms for the less formal and more interactive sessions. LED battens were positioned along the bottom of the cyc to add depth and effect.
In addition, Hawthorn provided projection, lighting and set solutions for the banqueting suite and breakout rooms.
Hawthorn's relationship with the EMCC is long established. Having undertaken the original fit out of the auditorium over 15 years ago, the Banqueting Suite 10 years ago and the Atrium four years ago, last year Hawthorn completed a £250,000 refit of the auditorium including rigging, lighting, sound and AV.
"We enjoy a great working relationship with Hawthorns," said Wayne Jackson, technical manager of the EMCC," and for this year's Xerox Conference they certainly provided the WOW factor."
